Hola, mis amigos de Hive y esta linda comunidad, es un placer estar con ustedes en esta nueva oportunidad; es para mà un privilegio poder estar aquà y compartir con ustedes lo que fue la realización del proceso de sacar la primera cédula de mi hijo Gael, lo cual aún me parece insólito, todo lo que han pasado los años. Espero les guste.
Mi hijo recientemente cumpliĂł sus nueve años de edad, y sinceramente esta es la fecha idĂłnea para obtener su cĂ©dula; además, es de ley obtener esto a esta edad en nuestro paĂs, Venezuela. Todo esto llevĂł un proceso del cual les contarĂ© a continuaciĂłn; lo que sĂ es cierto es que mi hijo está muy emocionado y yo, por mi parte, feliz de ser un ciudadano de la RepĂşblica Bolivariana de Venezuela. Es un paso en su vida que quise dejar plasmado en Hive ya que se ha convertido en mi blog personal de vida.

Hello, my friends at Hive and this wonderful community—it’s a pleasure to be with you again. It’s a privilege for me to be here and share with you the experience of getting my son Gael’s first ID card, which still seems unbelievable to me, even after all these years. I hope you enjoy it.
My son recently turned nine, and honestly, this is the perfect time to get his ID card; besides, it’s required by law to obtain one at this age in our country, Venezuela. The whole process took some time, which I’ll describe below; what’s certain is that my son is very excited, and I, for my part, am happy to be a citizen of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela. It’s a milestone in his life that I wanted to document on Hive, since it has become my personal life blog.

En primer lugar, para obtener la cĂ©dula en Venezuela, es un proceso largo que lleva tiempo; es por eso que lo primero que se toma es una cita por medio de la página de SAIME, en donde debemos ingresar con los datos del representante, debemos llenar los formularios y colocar todo lo que piden y, para esto, tambiĂ©n debemos tener la partida de nacimiento a mano para colocar algunos datos, luego tomar el dĂa disponible y asistir a la cita. Para esta cita nos tocĂł el dĂa 19 de agosto, es decir, el dĂa de hoy, para lo cual nos levantamos muy temprano, ya que mi hijo estaba muy entusiasmado. Nos arreglamos y le hice su desayuno; llevamos su agua y frutas para este dĂa, porque no sabemos quĂ© tiempo se tomarĂa.
Para nuestra salida, las cosas se complicaron con el carro, asĂ que tuve que asistir a la cita tomando bus y carro por puesto. Para esto es bastante complicado, ya que vivo en una zona alejada del centro local SAIME; es decir, es mucho camino de ida, pero tuve que hacerlo para poder obtener su cĂ©dula. Llegamos al SAIME a eso de las 7:20 a. m., lo cual fue supertarde debido a lo que acabo de mencionar, pero lleguĂ© a tiempo cuando recogieron las partidas y la cita impresa. Antes de asistir, tuve que investigar lo que se lleva y lo que debe tener el niño, asĂ que lo primero que te dicen en la entrada es que los niños no deben estar en camisa blanca, la partida debe ser original y los padres deben tener la cĂ©dula actualizada, para lo cual tambiĂ©n habĂa tomado mi cita, ya que mi cĂ©dula vencĂa en agosto de este año.
First of all, getting an ID card in Venezuela is a lengthy process that takes time; that’s why the first step is to make an appointment through the SAIME website, where we have to log in with the representative’s information, fill out the forms, and provide everything they ask for. To do this, we also need to have the birth certificate on hand to enter certain details, then select an available date, and attend the appointment. Our appointment was scheduled for August 19—that is, today—so we got up very early because my son was so excited. We got ready, and I made him breakfast; we brought water and fruit for the day, since we didn’t know how long it would take.
On the way out, we ran into some car trouble, so I had to take the bus and a shared ride to get to my appointment. This is quite a hassle, since I live far from the local SAIME office; in other words, it’s a long trip there, but I had to do it to get his ID card. We arrived at SAIME around 7:20 a.m., which was way too late because of what I just mentioned, but I made it in time to pick up the birth certificates and the printed appointment confirmation. Before going, I had to look up what to bring and what the child needed to have, so the first thing they tell you at the entrance is that children shouldn’t be wearing white shirts, the birth certificate must be the original, and parents must have an up-to-date ID card—which is why I’d also made an appointment for myself, since my ID card was set to expire in August of this year.
Proceso de cedulaciòn de Gael
El proceso fue largo y tedioso, pero gracias a Dios siempre nos encontramos con personas que nos ayudan, y más para mĂ que en esta ciudad todavĂa no tengo muchas amistades, asĂ que antes de sacar su cĂ©dula tuve que renovar la mĂa para que mi hijo pudiera luego pedir la de Ă©l, asĂ que mi proceso fue rápido, ya que hablĂ© con la chica que atiende y me permitiĂł ingresar y sacar mi cĂ©dula. Cuando estaba en ese proceso, me encontrĂ© con la mamá de un excompañero de clases de mi hijo cuando estaban estudiando en el privado; tambiĂ©n que esta chica fue la madrina de su promociĂłn, la cual lo saludĂł con orgullo. Ella trabaja en ese lugar y justamente renovĂ© mi cĂ©dula en su taquilla.
Después del tiempo, salà para esperar turno de mi hijo, siempre al pendiente del llamado, y al cabo de 10 minutos lo llamaron y me quedé impresionada, ya que no le tocaba, asà que ella me pasó y le hizo el proceso a mi hijo aparte. De verdad agradecida, porque me corrió muchos puestos, además de que ya estábamos agotados en ese lugar, pero el sufrimiento fue luego para la entrega de su cédula, puesto que se hace otro proceso y mi hijo estaba ya cansado, pero al final pasó y le dieron su cédula tan anhelada.
SalĂ del lugar sobre la una de la tarde rumbo a casa; el camino fue tedioso, pero gracias a Dios llegamos a casa felices de haber cumplido este tramo en su vida, y mi hijo feliz de tener cĂ©dula. Algo que me sucediĂł fue que no leĂ bien la cita en donde me decĂa copia y original del acta de nacimiento, y solo llevĂ© original, asĂ que esa se quedĂł en Saime, es decir, me quedĂ© sin partida de mi hijo, asĂ que debo bajar a Cumaná a solicitar una nuevamente en donde fue presentado mi hijo; por lo demás, agradecida de haber cumplido con este proceso y poder documentar aquĂ con ustedes lo que sucediĂł. No pude lanzar fotos adentro porque creo que no se podĂa, ya que no se podĂa tener usando los telĂ©fonos.
Nos vemos pronto en otra publicación. Gracias a Dios a todas las personas en nuestro camino por acelerar el proceso en Saime. La atención fue genial, pero supertedioso este proceso, más para los pequeños que no están acostumbrados. Nos vemos pronto.
The process was long and tedious, but thank God we always come across people who help us—especially for me, since I don’t have many friends in this city yet. So, before getting his ID card, I had to renew mine so my son could then apply for his. My process went quickly because I spoke with the woman at the counter, and she let me in to get my ID card. While I was going through that process, I ran into the mother of one of my son’s former classmates from when they were studying at the private school; she was also the homeroom teacher for his graduating class, and she greeted him proudly. She works there, and I actually renewed my ID card at her counter.
After a while, I went outside to wait for my son’s turn, always keeping an ear out for his name to be called, and after 10 minutes they called him—I was really surprised because it wasn’t his turn yet—so she let me through and processed my son’s paperwork separately. I’m truly grateful, because she moved us up many spots in line—especially since we were already exhausted from waiting there—but the real struggle came later when it was time to pick up his ID card, since that involves a separate process and my son was already tired. But in the end, he got through it, and they gave him his long-awaited ID card.
I left the office around 1:00 p.m. and headed home; the trip was tedious, but thank God we made it home happy to have completed this milestone in his life, and my son was happy to have his ID card. One thing that happened was that I didn’t read the appointment notice carefully—it said to bring both a copy and the original of the birth certificate—and I only brought the original, so that one stayed at SAIME. In other words, I was left without a copy of my son’s birth certificate, so I have to go down to Cumaná to request a new one at the office where my son was registered. Other than that, I’m grateful to have completed this process and to be able to share what happened here with you all. I wasn’t able to post any photos inside because I don’t think it was allowed—we weren’t permitted to use our phones there.

Long and tiring process, but I’m glad everything worked out in the end. God sends the right people at the right time to make difficult things a little easier. Congratulations to your son on finally getting his long-awaited ID!
