Hola, mis amigos de Hive y esta linda comunidad, es un placer estar con ustedes en esta nueva oportunidad; es para mà un privilegio poder estar aquà y compartir con ustedes lo que fue el examen de presentación de karate de mi hijo, como parte de las vivencias como madre en el camino de este arte con mi hijo. Espero les guste.
Mi hijo estuvo de cumpleaños el 18 de julio, y justo el dÃa después tenÃa su examen para ascenso en karate, lo cual fue una odisea, ya que el dÃa anterior estuvo hasta tarde con sus amigos en casa celebrando su cumpleaños. Luego, el domingo, tener que levantarse a presentar su examen fue un reto, más cuando este era a las 7 de la mañana. El examen de karate para lograr una cinta es un momento muy especial para todos, tanto para ellos como atletas como para nosotros los representantes, ya que lo vivimos a mil junto a ellos, y este no fue la excepción, asà que nos fuimos temprano a cumplir con este deber.

It’s a pleasure to be with you all once again; it’s a privilege for me to be here and share with you my son’s karate promotion exam, as part of my experiences as a mother on this journey through the art of karate with my son. I hope you enjoy it.
My son’s birthday was on July 18, and the very next day he had his karate promotion exam, which was quite an ordeal, since he’d stayed up late the night before with his friends at home celebrating his birthday. Then, on Sunday, having to get up to take his exam was a challenge, especially since it was at 7 a.m. The karate belt promotion exam is a very special moment for everyone—both for the kids as athletes and for us as their parents—since we experience it with them at full throttle, and this one was no exception, so we left early to fulfill this duty.

La cita fue el domingo 19 de julio de este año, en Santa Eduvigen Ranch, del cual hablé hace poco como lugar. Nuestra llegada fue temprano a pesar de algunos inconvenientes de llegada por el lugar, porque era lejos desde donde vivimos; para este dÃa fuimos sus abuelos y padres a tan bonito evento. Aparte de su examen, también tenÃan un dÃa de piscina, asà que luego de estar en el sitio, se cambia a todos los niños para que primero hagan su seminario, lo cual es un entrenamiento antes de la presentación del examen.
Cuando llega el examen, todo cambia, ya que los nervios aparecen tanto en los niños como en los representantes, además de que se presentan delante del gran maestro, nuestro sensei, que aprueba los cambios, asà que decidimos dejar todo en manos de Dios. Para este dÃa llovió temprano, asà que parte del evento se paralizó, pero enseguida se comenzó. Mi hijo entró en el primer grupo, ya que es amarillo, es decir, su tercera cinta; es aún pequeño en karate. Luego de tanta espera, por fin fue su llegada, para lo cual estaba nerviosa como madre porque mi hijo, aunque es seguro de todo lo que hace, en mà siempre van a estar los nervios de punta, tanto por su triunfo como por todo lo que se gasta en esta disciplina, porque para quien no sabe, aquà se gasta hasta el aire que se respira.
The event took place on Sunday, July 19 of this year, at Santa Eduvigen Ranch, a venue I mentioned recently. We arrived early despite some travel difficulties getting there, since it was far from where we live; on that day, their grandparents and parents accompanied them to this wonderful event. In addition to their exam, they also had a day at the pool, so after arriving at the venue, all the children got changed so they could first attend their seminar, which is a training session before the exam.
When the exam arrives, everything changes, as nerves set in for both the children and their parents, and they have to perform in front of the grand master, our sensei, who approves the promotions, so we decided to leave everything in God’s hands. It rained early that day, so part of the event was delayed, but it got underway shortly after. My son was in the first group, since he’s a yellow belt—that is, his third belt; he’s still young in karate. After such a long wait, his turn finally came. As a mother, I was nervous because, even though my son is confident in everything he does, I’ll always be on edge—both for his success and for everything that goes into this discipline, because, for those who don’t know, here you spend money on everything, even the air you breathe.
Experiencia del examen
Mi hijo y su amigo Fabricio ayudando en su examen
Para el examen de presentación, mi hijo tuvo que tener la ayuda de su amigo Fabricio, el niño que sale con él, ya que esta parte necesitaba alguien que lo ayudara. Entonces, su amigo siempre lo acompaña, porque son contemporáneos, del mismo tamaño y peso; además, han practicado mucho en el dojo para esta parte, puesto que habÃa avanzado un poco del examen, para luego hacer su bunkai, el cual tengo en formato de video. La identidad de los demás niños la oculto, ya que no tengo permiso de sus padres para subir a este ecosistema; recordemos que son niños y eso es sensible y más para mà como madre. Por otra parte, puedo decir que esta parte era un poco fácil con lo que se venÃa; hay que estudiar también teorÃa, y eso es lo que me preocupaba, ya que mi hijo estudia rápido y no repasa; eso me pone nerviosa.
Los niños aquà realizan bunkai, entrenamiento juntos, sus katas y la parte teórica, además de que cada uno pasa a realizar lo que aprende; es asà como pueden dar un veredicto final para los niños. El examen estuvo lleno de todo un poco, aunque también ocurrieron las risas al final, porque mientras estás en el examen, se hace silencio total, ya que eso se exige. En conclusión, puedo decir que todo salió excelente. Por una parte, mi hijo hizo todo muy bien, solo tuvo una corrección y realizó un excelente bunkai, por lo cual el maestro lo felicitó y los aplausos se dieron de la mejor forma. Sinceramente, me sentà muy orgullosa de mi bebe grande, porque eso es constancia y disciplina en el dojo; en cuanto a las preguntas, solo tuvo un error, pero en lo demás se supo defender. De verdad, mi hijo se parece a mà en ese sentido.
Gracias a Dios, mi hijo obtuvo su pase a naranja con amor y esmero, gracias a sus sensei, sus amigos de entrenamiento, a su agilidad de combate y nosotros como familia y padres por estar siempre a su lado apoyando lo que necesita. Te amamos, hijo, muchas felicidades; luego les muestro su cambio de cinta en otra publicación.
For the presentation exam, my son needed help from his friend Fabricio—the boy he hangs out with—since this part required someone to assist him. So his friend is always there with him, because they’re the same age, height, and weight; plus, they’ve practiced a lot at the dojo for this part, since he’d already progressed a bit through the exam, and then they did his bunkai, which I have on video. I’m keeping the other children’s identities private, since I don’t have their parents’ permission to post this online; let’s remember that they’re children, and this is a sensitive issue—especially for me as a mother. On the other hand, I can say that this part was a bit easier compared to what was coming next; they also have to study theory, and that’s what worried me, since my son learns quickly but doesn’t review—that makes me nervous.
The children here practice bunkai, train together, work on their katas, and study the theory; in addition, each child gets a chance to demonstrate what they’ve learned—that’s how the instructors are able to give the children a final evaluation. The exam had a little bit of everything, though there was also some laughter at the end, because while you’re taking the exam, there’s total silence—that’s what’s required. In conclusion, I can say that everything went excellent. For one thing, my son did everything very well; he only had one correction and performed an excellent bunkai, for which the sensei congratulated him and the applause was heartfelt. Honestly, I felt very proud of my big boy, because that’s a testament to his perseverance and discipline in the dojo; as for the questions, he made only one mistake, but otherwise he held his own. Truly, my son takes after me in that regard.
Thank God, my son earned his orange belt through love and dedication, thanks to his sensei, his training partners, his agility in combat, and us as a family and parents for always being by his side and supporting him in whatever he needs. We love you, son, and congratulations; I’ll show you his belt promotion in another post.
