RE: 🎬 2026 Movie Review #24 | 5 Centimeters Per Second (2007)

It is clearly not one of Makoto-Sensei's best works, although his spectacular work in terms of animation and production must be admired. However, its plot and story don't evoke much, beyond the minor controversy it may have generated online at the time due to the relationship between two people of quite different ages.
Even so, the slow pace of the work, the way in which the anime focuses more on visual elements to tell the story even with few dialogues and dramatic moments, is not so bad. It's not an anime for fans of JJK or KNY to watch, as they are used to seeing works with a lot of action, movement, drama, humor, etc. But otherwise, if you're more of a fan of Slice of Life, you might love this movie.
I agree with your rating; I don't have many memories of this film either. I prefer watching Makoto-sensei's other movies.
I do think that this one (at least for me) will get better on a 2nd viewing. I'm also looking forward to watch more of his work.
