Lotus Garden Newsletter for Homesteaders. 8th April 2020

We are certainly experiencing trying times and it's very apparent in many of the posts I've been reading today. I feel very much that community is key for getting us through rough patches, even if we can't be in direct contact with others. Something I have been reminded of this week is that change is constant and we can only learn to adapt.

Things happening in the community.

Timing wise we seem to be between challenges in the communities, but do keep an eye on @ecotrain and @naturalmedicine for their next challenges as they are bound to be out soon.

Some highlights of the week

For over 25 years @goldenoakfarm has started over 1500 seedlings per year for the homestead. It's taught her a lot about what gives them the best start in life for a healthy plant later in the season.

@thebigsweed has been doing a project for his wife. He's been making a fence literally from scratch and demonstrates the prepping of branches into posts.

With so many things selling out in this pandemic, I love that people are thinking outside the box and realising that not everything has to be disposable. While it's easier to dispose of potentially contaminated protective gear, washing at high temperatures will also decontaminate reusable items. @starjewel shares a variety of protective face masks that you can make.

If you're in a cold climate it seems you don't have to stop growing. @porters shares photos of her indoor winter garden and the eye candy is just lovely!

As we head into uncertain times and experience some scarcity, @craigcryptoking muses on food as a bartering or swapping system.

Each week one of our featured authors will be selected to be a 5% beneficiary of The Lotus Garden newsletter. This week @porters will receive this award.

Thank you for stopping by. This week's newsletter was brought to you by @minismallholding.
