WORLDPHOTOGRAPHY CONTEST • ROUND#31 •BIRDS OF THE WORLD // Garza Silbadora

Hello @marc-allaria thank you for the creation of these contests where we must necessarily be expert photographers to present our photos. The world is presented here through photographs brought by all users of this hive or those who participate.

It is true that I know very little about bird species, that there is a great variety and diversity of them, I know that they are birds by their characteristics of having two legs, body covered with feathers, their mouth in the shape of a beak.

I was spending a weekend at my grandmother's house in the farm, when the bird in the photo arrived, the first time I saw a bird like that and more in the farm, if others of the most common have arrived, such as pigeons, potocas, but not like that, so without wasting much time I looked for a Sony camera, to take this picture.

Then not to stay with the doubt about what bird is this one I searched in the internet and it turned out to be a Whistling Heron, incredible that what one is not can be found in Google with the Internet. In so many years that we have with the farm, first time I see a heron like this, in some parts of my city I have seen but the white ones, but not this kind.

It is a species of pelecaniform bird and belongs to the family Ardeidae, it is more seen in South American countries such as my country Venezuela, Colombia, Paraguay, Argentina and Uruguay.

It looks for its own food, these can be: lizards, frogs and insects, when it sees something that can be its food it hunts it, if it doesn't let it pass, it would be because it was in the farm.

The photo was taken with a Sony Cyber-shot DSC-HX200V 18.2 MP camera.
