I saved myself from kidnapping by talking too much! / Me salve de un secuestro por hablar mucho! [English-Spanish] .

In many cases, kidnappers seek ransom or other specific demands in exchange for the release of their victims. In others, however, they decide to release their prisoners without any payment. These situations can be motivated by different factors, such as compassion, regret, external pressure, or simply that the kidnappers cannot stand the kidnapped person.

One day I was approached by a group of strangers who dragged me into a vehicle, at that moment, I felt an indescribable fear and a sense of helplessness that invaded my whole being. However, instead of succumbing to terror, I decided to use my voice as a weapon to save my life.

For a few endless minutes, I held conversations with my captors, trying to establish a human bond with them and find common ground that could generate empathy. I told them about my family, my dreams and aspirations, shared anecdotes and memories, seeking to establish a connection that might lead them to reconsider their actions, until I found that they were fans of movies and rock music.

My kidnappers were surprised by the passion and enthusiasm as they discussed my favorite movies and favorite rock bands. In those moments I felt empathy from my captors.

In addition, the fact that I could not stop talking about movies, television and rock music became an unconscious strategy to show the kidnappers that I was not an easy target. By demonstrating intelligence, creativity and passion for art, I conveyed to them the idea that I would not be easy to manipulate or control.

It was key in this context to talk to my kidnappers about Quentin Tarantino's films, full of references to pop culture and rock music, and in terms of rock music, I told them about legendary bands like The Beatles, The Rolling Stones and Led Zeppelin that have influenced entire generations with their innovative music and provocative lyrics.

Little by little, I noticed how the attitude of the kidnappers began to change. From initial hostility, they began to listen attentively to my words, showing interest in my stories and showing some compassion. I took advantage of this change of attitude to try to persuade them that releasing me would be the best thing for everyone, arguing that they had nothing to gain by holding me captive and that I had nothing to offer them.

My passion for film is not something I acquired overnight. It is a process that is built over time, through constant exposure to different works and artists. In my case, my interest in these subjects goes back to my childhood, when I spent hours in front of the TV watching movies and series, and listening to vinyl records of legendary bands.

My knowledge about film, television and rock music has been enriched over the years, thanks to reading specialized books and magazines, attending events such as festivals and concerts, and participating in online communities dedicated to these topics. In addition, I have had the opportunity to meet people with similar interests, with whom I can discuss and share recommendations.

In addition, talking about film and rock during the kidnapping distracted the kidnappers by establishing an emotional connection with them and I thank God that they did not perceive this as a manipulation tactic on my part.

My passion for film, television and rock music has become part of my identity. No matter if I am in a casual conversation or in an extreme situation such as a kidnapping, I will always find a way to express my love for these art forms.

Finally, after these conversations, the kidnappers agreed to let me go, blindfolded me, and left me at the place where the kidnapping began. I still remember the feeling of relief and gratitude I experienced when I was free again, thanks to my ability to communicate effectively and find a peaceful way out of an extremely dangerous situation.

En muchos casos, los secuestradores buscan obtener un rescate u otras demandas específicas a cambio de la liberación de sus víctimas. Sin embargo, en otros deciden liberar a sus prisioneros sin ningún tipo de pago. Estas situaciones pueden estar motivadas por diferentes factores, como la compasión, el arrepentimiento, la presión externa o simplemente los antisociales no soportan al secuestrado.

Un día fui abordado por un grupo de desconocidos que me arrastraron a un vehículo, en ese momento, sentí un miedo indescriptible y una sensación de impotencia que invadía todo mi ser. Sin embargo, en lugar de sucumbir al terror, decidí hacer uso de mi voz como arma para salvar mi vida.

Durante unos minutos interminables, mantuve conversaciones con mis captores, tratando de establecer un vínculo humano con ellos y encontrar puntos en común que pudieran generar empatía. Les conté sobre mi familia, mis sueños y mis aspiraciones, compartí anécdotas y recuerdos, buscando establecer una conexión que pudiera llevarlos a reconsiderar sus acciones, hasta que encontré que eran fanáticos del cine y la música rock.

Mis secuestradores se veían sorprendidos por la pasión y el entusiasmo al discutir acerca de mis películas favoritas y bandas de rock preferidas. En esos momentos sentí empatía por parte de mis captores.

Además, el hecho de no poder parar de hablar de cine, televisión y música rock se convirtió en una estrategia inconsciente para demostrarle a los secuestradores que yo no era un objetivo fácil. Al demostrar inteligencia, creatividad y pasión por el arte, les transmití la idea de que no sería fácil de manipular o controlar.

Fue clave en este contexto ante mis secuestradores hablarles de las peliculas de Quentin Tarantino, llenas de referencias a la cultura pop y la música rock,y en cuanto a la música rock,les hable de bandas legendarias como The Beatles, The Rolling Stones y Led Zeppelin que han influenciado a generaciones enteras con su música innovadora y sus letras provocadoras.

Poco a poco, fui notando cómo la actitud de los secuestradores comenzaba a cambiar. De la hostilidad inicial, pasaron a escuchar atentamente mis palabras, mostrando interés por mis historias y demostrando cierta compasión. Aproveché este cambio de actitud para intentar persuadirlos de que liberarme sería lo mejor para todos, argumentando que no tenían nada que ganar manteniéndome cautivo y que ademas no tenia nada que ofrecerles.

Mi pasión por el cine, no es algo que adquirí de la noche a la mañana. Es un proceso que se construye a lo largo del tiempo, a través de la exposición constante a diferentes obras y artistas. En mi caso, mi interés por estos temas se remonta a mi infancia, pasaba horas frente al televisor viendo películas y series, iba mucho al cine, y escuchaba discos de vinilo de bandas legendarias.

Mi conocimiento sobre cine, televisión y música rock se ha enriquecido a lo largo de los años, gracias a la lectura de libros y revistas especializadas, la asistencia a eventos como festivales y conciertos, y la participación en comunidades online dedicadas a estos temas. Además, he tenido la oportunidad de conocer a personas con intereses similares, con quienes puedo debatir y compartir recomendaciones.

Además, el hecho de hablar de cine y rock durante el secuestro distrajo a los secuestradores al establecerse una conexión emocional con ellos y doy gracias a Dios que no percibieron que esto era una táctica de manipulación de mi parte.

Mi pasión por el cine, la televisión y la música rock se ha convertido en parte de mi identidad. No importa si estoy en una conversación casual o en una situación extrema como un secuestro, siempre encontraré la forma de expresar mi amor por estas formas de arte.

Finalmente, después de estas conversaciones, los secuestradores accedieron a dejarme ir, me taparon los ojos, y me dejaron en el lugar donde se inicio el secuestro. Aún recuerdo la sensación de alivio y gratitud que experimenté al verme nuevamente en libertad, gracias a mi habilidad para comunicarme de manera efectiva y encontrar una salida pacífica a una situación de extremo peligro.
