Learning to live with Chia the cat.

About a year and a half ago at about 10 o'clock at night on a Saturday night we heard outside my home three different kind of meows, with a very high pitched tone, they were three very small cats meowing because of the cold and hunger.

They were out of a small box, walking between the stairs of my building, when my wife and my daughter saw them they came out of the apartment and tried to grab some of these kittens. Other neighbors came out and managed to grab two of them.

The third kitten was a little wilder and would not let herself be touched, my daughter went home for a moment and took two bath towels, rolled them up in her arms and was able to grab the kitten, which once grabbed stopped scratching.

At home, we realized that it was not a cat, it was a cat, this one immediately went to a corner of the apartment, while in the other corner, we improvised a small bed with a shoe box, and a small cloth. The cat was still crying, until we brought her some water and gave her some chicken very well chopped in small pieces, in this way we satiated her hunger and she stopped crying.

In my mind, until that moment, I had no intention of adopting any animal, in fact I was not used to having pets at home.

This little cat from the beginning has been very curious and restless, she explores bathrooms, kitchens, closets, windows, and is also a hunter of any strange animal that sneaks into the house as insects and even birds. This cat locates the prey, and then crawls slowly and then run to it, another tactic I have seen is to hide and wait patiently until the right time and jump on the prey. On many occasions she even talks to them meowing as if she was warning them of something. In those moments at home she pounces in a wild way and takes everything in her way.

Little by little we have been teaching her, she has a specific place to eat, another place to drink water, (she doesn't like to drink water where she eats), and another place for her physiological needs. The first week at home she caused me a great displeasure when she did her needs on a new shirt.

We baptized the cat with the name of Chia, she likes to play with her little dog Zamoro and tear any kind of anime, observing her I have noticed that she is very clean, she covers with shavings her urine and feces, and then instinctively cleans her whole body with her tongue.

We feed her twice a day and bathe her once a month, she has all her vaccinations and is spayed.

She is a very independent being and I think that since we cover her needs she is with us because she is very comfortable and protected with the company. We play with her when she asks for it, not when we want to, we have already made several experiments and I really think that when she is not in the mood she ignores us and sneaks away.

When I come home from work she always waits for me at the front door, and I take five minutes with her petting her and talking to her, she winks at me, then runs to my wife who is watching TV and starts kneading her, then runs to where my daughter is asking her to play with her running around.

Every day around five o'clock in the morning he gets on my bed and starts headbutting me to wake me up, I don't use an alarm clock anymore. The bad thing about this behavior is that she also does it on the weekend when I am resting. He doesn't do this with my wife or my daughter.

She eats at six thirty in the morning and at eight o'clock at night, she makes herself understood when she is hungry and looks for any of the three of us to get her food.

Although she has her own bed, she likes to ride on ours or on a piece of furniture, but when we ask her to get out of it, she does it most of the time. If one of us is sick Chia keeps us company in the room, she always keeps an eye on us and likes to see what we are doing in a stealthy way.

She loves to be near the computer in the house and more than once playing among the wires of the computer she manages to turn off the voltage regulator and as a result if we had not recorded what we were doing we lose our work.

Having a pet is like raising a child, and sometimes it is even more difficult, but somehow it manages to connect with us. In particular, arriving home and seeing Chia waiting for me has a de-stressing effect on me, especially when I pet her and hear her purr. We have a lot of fun at home watching her behavior and we play a lot with her when she allows it.

I have grown to love this kitty, even though I was not a fan of animals, she shows affection, independence and affection. She helps us at home with unwanted animals and also keeps us in shape as we are all day long watching her and her running around in order to try to correct some inappropriate behavior, (which happens very little).

This is my participation in the initiative suggested by @galenkp called Weekend-Engagement writing topics: Week 155 Link Here.

Shoot your cat or dog

Most who own a cat or dog love them greatly, I get it because I love my cat! Shoot a photo of your cat or dog and do a 300+ word post explaining why you love it so much and what it brings to your life. This must be your personal cat or dog and the photos must be your own.

Big greetings to all and happy weekend.

All images are my property and were taken with my Iphone4 cell phone. The collage was made using the Paint 3D application.

Cats have a way of turning up and presenting themselves to those who need them.

That's true, my daughter took on more responsibility by wanting to raise this cat, and it's very distracting to me because it de-stresses me and makes me laugh.

Cats can be great companions and have a way of knowing how people feel and acting accordingly. They also do what they want too of course.

Your cat is very beautiful, you can see that she is the queen of the house, playing and sleeping where she wants

She is really very independent and very intelligent, sometimes she gets creative and wants to sleep on her clothes, there if I put a little character and reprimand her, I do not like the hair on her clothes. It seems to me that she is marking her territory. Day by day I learn more about this pet. Thanks for commenting.
