Worst Habit

___

Greetings to everyone. I feel so delighted to share this here. "My worst habit", while growing I didn't realize it will become a bad habit

Come with me while I share my story.

While I was growing up, my parents did not give us that freedom to socialize with people. I've always been an indoor person, right from the beginning, it affected me negatively.

There was a time I wanted to see a friend of mine, I just graduated from secondary school. Normally before I move out of the house I inform my parent always. So when I was telling them about my outing, told them I wanted to see a secondary school friend and the reply I received was "Tell your friend to come and see you in your house" I was not really surprise with their response but I felt so bad.

My parents were just trying to be protective, I understand that and it became part of me.

So when I gained admission to the university, Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, Kaduna state. It became so hard to socialise with people, even to speak in the midst of people. Low self esteem also got me.

But a friend rescued me. I was going to my department one afternoon, and this guy stopped me. He said that he realised I don’t mingle with people, so from there we went and told him about my upbringing. Since then, he has helped me socialise with people in the department, and I was able to feel like a student in the department.

This impacted me a lot, it cultivated a positive impact on me. It brought me a sense of belonging and reduced my loneliness and isolation. It enhanced my emotional intelligence, sharpened my communication skills, and also elevated stress.

The social bond I created while in school really reduced a lot of stress. Most of the time in class, I really do not understand what has been explained. Thank God for my group of friends. We always come together to read, and with this, I already have a better understanding.

In conclusion, networking builds a foundation for future relationships and career opportunities. Social interactions sharpen interpersonal skills, which are extremely important for navigating the complexities of the adult world. In essence, establishing social bonds as a student is a cornerstone for academic success, personal growth, and a fulfilling future.

Hmm!! I am so happy you were able to walk out of that bondage. To date, I am still suffering with mine, not as if I was caged while I was growing up, No! I had liberty but at some point, I felt I was no match with other kids, I started feeling inferior, so I excluded myself and here am I, a big loner, quiet and hmmm.. currently working on it though
