[ESP/ENP] Review: The Marksman, Liam Neeson's Farewell/El Protector, Despedida de Liam Neeson

Hello friends, today I want to tell you about a film by one of the most versatile actors and that for me is one of the best Liam Neeson, who started in the action genre maybe a little late, but many of his films are memorable like "Taken" among other. This new film directed by Robert Lorenz, which premiered in January 2021, was not widely distributed like other films due to the pandemic and was not distributed by the streeming networks at the time, which made it go unnoticed by the vast majority of the public. It shows us even Liam Neeson already advanced in years, more real, human and accompanied by a cast of actors perhaps not so well known, but magnificent as: Juan Pablo Raba, Teresa Ruiz, Ketheryn Winnick among others.

Hola amigos, hoy quiero hablarle de una película de unos de los actores más versátiles y que para mi es uno de los mejores Liam Neeson, quién comenzó en el género de acción quizás algo tarde, pero muchas de sus cintas son memorables como “Taken” entre otras. Esta nueva película dirigida por Robert Lorenz, que se estreno en enero del 2021, no tuvo gran difusión como otras películas por la pandemia y no fue distribuida por las cadenas streeming en su momento lo que hiciera que pasara desapercibida para la gran mayoría del público, nos muestra aun Liam Neeson ya entrado en años, más real, humano y acompañado de un elenco de actores quizás no tan conocidos, pero magníficos como: Juan Pablo Raba, Teresa Ruiz, Ketheryn Winnick entre otros.

This film is very different from what we saw in "TaKen", full of action from beginning to end, with extraordinary melee fights, here we see Liam in a character (Jim Hanson), who is a rancher whose property borders the border with Mexico, for which every so often he meets immigrants who try to cross it and he hands them over to the authorities, a widower and bankrupt, Jim struggles not to lose his ranch and the memories of his wife in their home, a man Alone, tormented by his loss, he seeks consolation in a bottle, tries to survive his loneliness, he suddenly meets a mother (Rosa) and her son (Miguel), fleeing chased by some men, Jim arrives just in time to help them , the injured mother passes away but she makes Jim promise to take care of her son and bring him safely to his family.

Esta cinta es muy diferente a lo que vimos en “TaKen”, llena de acción de principio a fin, con peleas cuerpo a cuerpo extraordinarias, acá vemos a Liam en un personaje (Jim Hanson), que es ranchero cuya propiedad bordea con la frontera con México, por lo cual cada tanto tiempo se encuentra con inmigrantes que tratan de cruzarla y el los entrega a las autoridades, viudo y en banca rota, Jim lucha por no perder su rancho y los recuerdos de su esposa en su hogar, un hombre solo, atormentado por su perdida que busca consuelo en una botella, trata de sobrevivir a su soledad, se encuentra de pronto con una madre (Rosa) y su hijo (Miguel), huyendo perseguidos por unos hombres, Jim llega justo a tiempo para ayudarlos, la madre herida fallece pero le hace prometer a Jim que cuidara de su hijo y lo llevara a salvo con su familia.

Liam (Jim), tries to fulfill his promise to the boy's mother and do the right thing with the authorities, but he realizes that the stakes are high and that it is dangerous, those who persecute the boy belong to a dangerous drug cartel and they won't go away so easily without getting what they're looking for. Here a series of situations occur that force Jim to take action on the matter and help Miguel to reunite him with his family. Although in this film you do not see a Liam fighting as in other films, it has moments of action where the shootings play an important role and where we see a Liam not as agile as before, but who at 68 years are credible for an ex soldier who served his country with honors and won a medal, in his character.

Liam (Jim), trata de cumplir su promesa a la madre del niño y hacer lo correcto con las autoridades, pero se da cuenta que hay mucho en juego y que es peligroso, los que persiguen al niño pertenecen aun peligroso cartel de las drogas y no se irán tan fácilmente sin recuperar lo que están buscando. Acá ocurren unas series de situaciones que obligaran a Jim a tomar cartas en el asunto y ayudar a Miguel para reunirlo con su familia. Aunque en está cinta no ves a un Liam peleando como en otras cintas, tiene momentos de acción en donde los tiroteos juegan un papel importante y donde vemos a un Liam no tan ágil como antes, pero que a sus 68 años son creíbles para un ex soldado que sirvió a su país con honores y gano una medalla, en su personaje.

The film is not extraordinary in the subject it touches, but the performances and the chemistry of Liam and Juan are magnificent, the boy enchanted me in his role and although he touches some clichés, it is nonetheless interesting, the dangers they will face Throughout their journey they will make Jim realize that he is not living and that he has been consumed by his loneliness and loss. It shows us a reality that happens every day on the border of Mexico and the USA, of the thousands of immigrants who try to cross to find a better life for their families and what they face on their way to fulfill the American dream.

La película, no es extraordinaria en el tema que toca, pero las actuaciones y la química de Liam y Juan son magnificas, el niño me encanto en su rol y aunque toca algunos clichés, no por ello deja de ser interesante, los peligros que enfrentarán a lo largo de su recorrido harán que Jim se de cuenta que no esta viviendo y que se ha dejado consumir por su soledad y perdida. Nos muestra una realidad que pasa cada día en la frontera de México y USA, de los miles de inmigrantes que tratan de cruzar para buscar una mejor viva para sus familias y lo que se enfrentan en su camino por cumplir el sueño americano.

I liked the film, it has its extraordinary moments, but they did not delve deeper, they lack to contribute more ingredients, but the performances and the chemistry of Liam and Juan, in my opinion, are the factor that saves this film, it is not one of the best that Liam has ever seen. done, but if in the interview he gave for tv is true, he said, I quote: "he's already too old for this genre," I think he said goodbye to this type of tapes on the right foot. I give it 7 out of 10.

Me gusto la película, tiene sus momentos extraordinarios, pero no profundizaron, les falto aportar más ingredientes, pero las actuaciones y la química de Liam y Juan, en mi parecer son el factor que salva esta cinta, no es de las mejores que Liam haya hecho, pero si en la entrevista que dio para la tv es cierta, dijo cito: “ya está muy viejo para este género”, creo que se despidió de este tipo de cintas con buen pie. Yo le doy 7 de 10.
