Philippa Langley, against all odds and detractors, not only discovered the remains, but gave light with arguments and evidence to rewrite the history of what was previously believed of this monarch, last king of the House of York and end of the Plantagenet dynasty.

Philippa Langley, contra todo pronóstico y detractores, no solo descubrir los restos, sino que dio luz con argumentos y pruebas para que se reescribiera la historia de lo que antes se creía de este monarca, último rey de la casa York y fin de la dinastía Plantagenet.

I am passionate about historical films based on real events, so when I found out a year ago that the BBC was planning to make this film, I got excited, especially because it is an event that happened recently and which I followed through social networks. The film was released recently and is directed by Stephen Frears, as a cast of actors led by Sally Hawkins, one of the best British actresses in my opinion and that in this film plays Philippa, a woman who despite her limitations achieved the unthinkable.

Soy una apasionada de las películas históricas basada en hechos reales, así que cuando me enteré hace un año que la BBC, estaba en proyecto de hacer esta cinta, pues me emocione, sobre todo porque es un acontecimiento que paso hace poco tiempo y el cual seguí por las redes sociales. La película se estrenó hace poco y es dirigida por Stephen Frears, como un reparto de actores encabezado por Sally Hawkins, una de las mejores actrices británica en mi opinión y que en esta película interpreta a Philippa, una mujer que a pesar de sus limitaciones logro lo impensable.

Much of what was said about Richard III was the work of the House of Tudor to discredit him and erase his legacy from history. For centuries history believed in the image that Shakespeare painted for us, until Philippa, along with the help of the Richard III Society, took on the task of investigating the facts behind the myth. This woman with no academic training in history, for years investigated and fought with academics and the government to make possible what she called the Richard III project, to find and validate where she thought the remains of the late king would be. In the film we see her journey to make this a reality, I liked that they told the facts in a light way and even with a sense of humor, giving the film a touch of comedy, which shows us that the story is not boring and the English sense of humor is famous for being very serious.

Durante siglos la historia creyó en la imagen que Shakespeare nos pintó, hasta que Philippa, junto con la ayuda de la Sociedad Ricardo III, se dieron a la tarea de investigar los hechos detrás del mito. Esta mujer sin preparación académica en historia, durante años investigo y peleo con académicos y el gobierno para hacer posible lo que llamo proyecto Ricardo III, buscar y validar donde pensó estarían los restos del fallecido rey. En la película vemos su viaje para hacer esto realidad, me gusto que relataran los hechos de una manera ligera e incluso con incluso sentido de humor, dándole a la película un toque de comedia, cosa que nos muestra que la historia no es aburrida y el sentido del humor inglés famoso por ser muy serios.

If I have something negative to say about the film, perhaps it is that they should have gone deeper into how Philippa confronted those who did not believe in her and her work, by not giving her more recognition than she deserved, but I understand that when someone outside academic circles achieves what the experts did not, it is not always accepted at all. For me, the film is extraordinary because of the message it has, which is to show that an ordinary person can achieve great things and change the perception of a character in history that was frowned upon for centuries and seek the truth above all else.

Si algo negativo debo decir de la cinta, quizás es que debieron profundizar más el cómo Philippa, se enfrentó a los que no creyeron en ella y su trabajo, al no darle más reconocimientos de los que merecía, pero entiendo que cuando alguien ajeno a los círculos académicos logra lo que no lograron los expertos, no siempre se acepta del todo. Para mí la cinta es extraordinaria por el mensaje que tiene y es demostrar que una persona común y corriente puede lograr grandes cosas y cambiar la percepción de un personaje de la historia que fue mal visto durante siglos y buscar la verdad por encima de todo.
