You have to love them, the minions. Wacky, fun, entertaining and mischievous but in a cute way. I have waited patiently for this movie since the beginning of the year and I'm glad they did not disappoint my level of excitement. I saw the first minion movie back in 2015 with a friend and I fell in love with them almost immediately. for those of you who do not know minion the rise of Gru is the sequel to the first minion movie that aired in 2015. Anybody that has seen minions cannot hate them.

The movie took me on a roller coaster. As you would expect, there were a lot of laughable moments, of course, its the minions.
Illumination studio really outdid themselves. I had very high expectations for this movie because they did so well with the first one so it was only fair that they would do the same with the second. It's a fun film that the whole family can sit and watch, kids would love this movie and they are some humour that I am very sure that adults would love. You can totally relate with some of the characters in this movie. For example Gru, a child that is neglected by his mum but finds company in the minions. There's a part where his abductors want to call his mother and ask for a ransom and he replies with "she would probably pay you to keep me". Although that scene was a funny moment, I could not help but really think about it. If you ask most kids nowadays what they want to be in future you would hear them go teacher, lawyer, doctor, accountant, which was weird when Gru aspired to be a super villain ever since he was a kid. Maybe they should add that to a list of occupations hehe.

Another thing is for most of us, meeting our idols can be a bum when they don't meet the expectations you set out for them, happened to me a couple of times but it was different for Gru, he meets his idol in the movie and he is everything Gru could ever wish for, he even takes Gru on to mentor him a bit. "You're a good bad guy", mentioned in one of the conversation of between them. This movie points out a lot of things, the value of friendship, and the power of a good mentor, you're going to enjoy it.

The Cast

You wouldn't believe the amount of A list voice actors in the movie. I had to paused the movie at some point and go search on Google to clear all my doubts, what I saw increased my level of excitement.

It star, Steve Carell as the voice of Gru, you might know him from the office, Pierre Coffin as the voice of The Minions, Alan Arkin as Wild Knuckles, Taraji P. Henson Belle Bottom, Michelle Yeoh Master Chow ( which was awesome by the way seeing as she is always cut out for Kung Fu roles), Julie Andrews as Gru's Mom, Russell Brand as Nefario. Even Jean-Claude Van Damme makes an appearance as the voice actor who played Jean-Clawed, Dolph Lundgren as Svengeance, Danny Trejo as Stronghold and Lucy Lawless as Nun-Chuck, just to name a few hehe.

The Plot

11 year old Gru is excited for his interview with the Vicious 6, a group of super villains who are looking for a new member. He aspired to be a supervillain for so long and with the help of the minions which he hired, he might get to be just that at an early age. The interview doesn't go so well and in a bid to impress them, he steals an artifact from them, a Zodiac stone that gives the wielder unimaginable power when the clock strikes at midnight.

He escapes after stealing the stone and entrusts the stone to one of the minions. He later fires the minions for losing the stone. Knuckles, a former member of the Vicious 6 kidnaps Gru and tells him to deliver the stone to him in 48 hours if Gru wants to stay alive. The minions get wind of it and sets out on a mission to save Gru. They learn Kung Fu from Master Chow, a former Kung Fu teacher who now makes a living at an acupuncture clinic.

Gru confesses to Knuckles that he saw him as an idol and was the reason he wanted to become a supervillain in the first place. They start to bond, he even teaches Gru a few of his old tricks and together, they attempt to pull a heist at the bank of evil.

The Vicious 6 find out Gru and Knuckles are in San Francisco. They head there to get the stone from Gru. They get the stone and turn themselves into animals from the Chinese Zodiac, holding Gru captive. Knuckles and the minions, who ended their Kung Fu training prematurely try to save Gru from the 6.

They eventually stop but the damaged had been done to knuckles already, he was burnt up in the fire by the Vicious 6. The Vicious 6 are arrested by the anti villain league and the Zodiac stone is safe in their custody. Will Knuckles make it after being burnt? Will Gru's Mom realize her son has been missing and go out to find him? I guess you'll just have to watch it to find out.

We get to find out how Gru hires Dr. Nefario, the inventor of his Gadgets in the "Despicable Me" movies.

My Opinion

I have been laughing at most of the scenes in the movie, especially the one where the minions are just being the minions. They're a funny bunch and I think they're my favorite animated characters. Either them or Olaf from frozen, I haven't quite decided yet. Even if it was their own movie, I love how the writers gives Gru enough screen time so the audience can really understand his back story.

You have to commend the animators, excellent animating but you wouldn't expect anything less from Illumination studio, nicely drawn characters.

I knew there wasn't going to be dull moments in this movie, it was fun, exiting and full of comedy. The minions don't speak English but it's really not hard to understand what they're saying. Although everybody expected a happy ending, I have to add that the movie was unpredictable. You couldn't really predict what would happen next leading up to the happy ending. That's just to show you the writers were brilliant with the plot. You think something is going to happen then another thing happens.

I was sad at some point when I thought about the relationship Gru and his mom had. She didn't really seem to care about what he was doing alot. The closet thing he had to friends were his henchmen, the minions. They had slowly turned into his family over time. I think I would want henchmen too if those henchmen were the minions, they're loyal to the core. Even after Gru fires them, they still risked their lives to save him. We could use the minions in our lives.

Even if you do not watch animations, you can't miss this one, its a amazing one and it is coming highly recommended from me. You want action, you've got it. You want comedy, suspense? You got it. This is definitely one of the best movie of 2022 so far, I give it a 9 over 10 rating.

Tienes que amarlos, los minions. Alocado, divertido, entretenido y travieso, pero de una manera tierna. He esperado pacientemente esta película desde principios de año y me alegro de que no hayan defraudado mi nivel de emoción. Vi la primera película de Minions en 2015 con un amigo y me enamoré de ellos casi de inmediato. Para aquellos de ustedes que no conocen a Minion, el ascenso de Gru es la secuela de la primera película de Minion que se emitió en 2015. Cualquiera que haya visto Minions no puede odiarlos.

La película me llevó en una montaña rusa. Como era de esperar, hubo muchos momentos de risa, por supuesto, son los minions. El estudio de iluminación realmente se superó a sí mismo. Tenía expectativas muy altas para esta película porque les fue tan bien con la primera que era justo que hicieran lo mismo con la segunda. Es una película divertida que toda la familia puede sentarse y ver, a los niños les encantará esta película y tienen algo de humor que estoy seguro de que a los adultos les encantará. Puedes relacionarte totalmente con algunos de los personajes de esta película. Por ejemplo Gru, un niño que es abandonado por su madre pero encuentra compañía en los minions. Hay una parte en la que sus secuestradores quieren llamar a su madre y pedir un rescate y él responde "probablemente te pagaría para mantenerme". Aunque esa escena fue un momento divertido, no pude evitar pensar realmente en ello. Si le pregunta a la mayoría de los niños de hoy en día qué quieren ser en el futuro, los escuchará ser maestros, abogados, médicos, contadores, lo cual fue extraño cuando Gru Aspiraba a ser un súper villano desde que era un niño. Tal vez deberían agregar eso a una lista de ocupaciones, jeje.

Otra cosa es que para la mayoría de nosotros, conocer a nuestros ídolos puede ser un vago cuando no cumplen con las expectativas que estableces para ellos, a mí me pasó un par de veces pero fue diferente para Gru, él conoce a su ídolo en la película. y él es todo lo que Gru podría desear, incluso toma a Gru para que lo guíe un poco. "Eres un buen chico malo", mencionó en una de las conversaciones entre ellos. Esta película señala muchas cosas, el valor de la amistad y el poder de un buen mentor, la disfrutarás.

El elenco

No creerías la cantidad de actores de voz de la lista A en la película. Tuve que pausar la película en algún momento e ir a buscar en Google para despejar todas mis dudas, lo que vi aumentó mi nivel de emoción.

La Trama

Gru, de 11 años, está emocionado por su entrevista con Vicious 6, un grupo de súper villanos que buscan un nuevo miembro. Aspiraba a ser un supervillano por tanto de largo y con la ayuda de los secuaces que contrató, podría llegar a ser precisamente eso a una edad temprana. La entrevista no va tan bien y, en un intento por impresionarlos, les roba un artefacto, una piedra del zodiaco que le da al portador un poder inimaginable cuando el reloj marca la medianoche. Se escapa después de robar la piedra y se la confía a uno de los secuaces. Más tarde despide a los minions por perder la piedra. Knuckles, un ex miembro de Vicious 6, secuestra a Gru y le dice que le entregue la piedra en 48 horas si Gru quiere seguir con vida. Los minions se enteran y emprenden una misión para salvar a Gru. Aprenden Kung Fu de Master Chow, un ex maestro de Kung Fu que ahora se gana la vida en una clínica de acupuntura.

Gru le confiesa a Knuckles que lo vio como un ídolo y que esa era la razón por la que quería convertirse en un supervillano en primer lugar. Comienzan a vincularse, incluso le enseña a Gru algunos de sus viejos trucos y juntos intentan robar el banco del mal.

Los Vicious 6 descubren que Gru y Knuckles están en San Francisco. Se dirigen allí para obtener la piedra de Gru. Obtienen la piedra y se convierten en animales del zodíaco chino, manteniendo cautivo a Gru. Knuckles y los minions, que terminaron prematuramente su entrenamiento de Kung Fu, intentan salvar a Gru de los 6.

Eventualmente se detienen, pero el daño ya se había hecho hasta los nudillos, los Vicious 6 lo quemaron en el fuego. Los Vicious 6 son arrestados por la liga antivillano y la piedra del zodiaco está a salvo bajo su custodia. ¿Lo logrará Knuckles después de ser quemado? ¿Se dará cuenta la madre de Gru de que su hijo ha desaparecido y saldrá a buscarlo? Mi opinión

Me he estado riendo de la mayoría de las escenas de la película, especialmente aquella en la que los minions son solo minions. Son un grupo divertido y creo que son mis personajes animados favoritos. O ellos u Olaf de Frozen, aún no lo he decidido. Incluso si fuera su propia película, me encanta cómo los escritores le dan a Gru suficiente tiempo en pantalla para que la audiencia realmente pueda entender su historia de fondo.

Tienes que elogiar a los animadores, excelente animación, pero no esperarías nada menos del estudio Illumination, personajes muy bien dibujados. Sabía que no iba a haber momentos aburridos en esta película, era divertida, emocionante y llena de comedia. Los minions no hablan inglés, pero en realidad no es difícil entender lo que dicen. Aunque todos esperaban un final feliz, debo agregar que la película fue impredecible. Realmente no podías predecir lo que sucedería a continuación antes del final feliz. Eso es solo para mostrarles que los escritores fueron brillantes con la trama. Crees que algo va a pasar y luego pasa otra cosa.

Me entristeció en algún momento cuando pensé en la relación que tenían Gru y su madre. A ella realmente no parecía importarle mucho lo que él estaba haciendo. Lo más cercano que tenía a los amigos eran sus secuaces, los secuaces. Se habían convertido lentamente en su familia con el tiempo. Creo que yo también querría secuaces si esos secuaces fueran los secuaces, son leales hasta la médula. Incluso después de que Gru los despide, arriesgaron sus vidas para salvarlo. Podríamos usar a los minions en nuestras vidas.

Incluso si no ve las animaciones, no puede perderse esta, es increíble y se la recomiendo encarecidamente. Quieres acción, la tienes. ¿Quieres comedia, suspenso? Lo entendiste. Esta es definitivamente una de las mejores películas de 2022 hasta ahora, le doy una calificación de 9 sobre 10.
