"Our world is dying, the earth is predicted to run out of clean air in a month, Hawkings was right, humanity finally pushed itself to the brink of extinction. The last of us live in dorms specially created to keep us alive, I don't know what the world is like out there. The world, finally united as one look for possible solutions to survival. Leave it to the end of the world to bring everybody together.

The biggest chance we have is the Raymond-riller, named after Dr. Raymond Miller, the world's leading meta-physist. He created a machine capable of opening a door to another earth, one full of life. He and his machine might just be the key to our salvation but all attempts to get the door running have proved futile.Many courageous men have died going through the portal. I mom taught me never to give up hope but it would be hard to have hope when you can't breathe".

"Why isn't it working? What are we not getting right?".

"Maybe we should just come to terms that the multiverse does not exist"

Dr. Raymond looked helpless, "what would you have me do, give up and let everybody die?"

"You need rest Raymond, look at you, you want to die before the rest of us?"

"My dad has always been a workaholic, now, the fate of the world depended on him getting his machine running. I was never one for science but I believed in my father, if anybody could get us out of this, he could. The world leaders gather today to weigh our options, like we have any".

"I urge you not to give up, we're almost there with the portal"

"We do not have anymore time Dr. Raymond", the Chinese ambassador spoke, "once the clean air is gone, the whole of humanity goes along with it a week later".

"We're almost there, we just need to get the sequence working and we synchronize all machines around the world, please do not lose hope".

"Hope is all we have, nothing more, We will wait for you doctor with our hands tied. This meeting is adjourned and if you do have a god, pray to him", the ambassador signed out

"Start up the engine, full power"

"Raymond, if this fails, you'll be dead, send one of the soldiers instead, we still need your mind"

"If this fails Ben, we'll all be dead. I can not another brave man sacrifice himself for my mistakes".

"You can't do this father, you can't, I need you".

"I do this for you pumpkin, for all of you, I'll be back, I promise pumpkin".

"You can't promise that"

"My father knew this was the end for him, for all of us, I watched as he stood before the metallic portal like a man ready to lose everything. I watched as he stepped into it"

"The whole world watched as Dr. Raymond Miller enter void 2 hours ago, there has been no word from him. I fear the one thing of everybody's mind, he's gone ", the news lady broadcasted

"We need to close the portal"

"Don't, my father is still in there, wait a minute"

"If he hasn't responded till now, he's gone, if we don't close the portal, it will suck everything and everyone in it"

Just hold on!!"

"Am sorry Penelope, your father is gone. Close it!"

Just then, there was some chatter over the radio box.

"Th-h-his is Dr. Mi-l-ler, can anybody hear me? Come in, this is Dr. Raymond Miller".

The whole world held it's breath, the doctor had made contact after two hours stepping into the portal.

"We hear you Raymond, report" , Ben said as he rushed to pick up the microphone.

"Do you always have to sound so official Ben?"

"Raymond, is that really you, what do you see?"

"Tell everyone to pack their bags, we've found a new home".

"That day, humanity had a big win, the machines we synced and the rest of the living made it to the other side. It's been a year since my father saved us all, we owe it to our children an their children to teach them to save our home, those who fail to learn from history are doomed to repeat it".
