Concert against all odds - The Tale of Lina

Have you heard the phrase "against all odds"? It's often used when something happens that no one would have predicted would happen that way. It might even be called a miracle. Lina recently experienced a situation that was resolved against all odds. She and her bandmates still remember this experience as one of the most exciting of their lives. The trigger for everything was their first big international concert. Before that, they had done several other concerts, but all were limited and local to the number of people who could attend. But this one would be different from all the others, because first, it would be with a large audience, and second, it would be in a new place. So, for them, it was very exciting.

They hadn't been in music for long; they were just starting out, but they were going full speed ahead because they were doing a great job. Since it was their first concert outside their homeland, they wanted to please everyone and build a reputation. That's why they prepared very well before that event. They were already tired of preparing every day, but they didn't stop because they knew this could change their lives.

The concert was scheduled for 9 p.m., so as to accommodate as many people as possible. By that time, many had already left work and had the opportunity to attend. Meanwhile, the group was preparing to depart for their destination country the day before. They would spend the night in a hotel. They all lived a bit far from each other, so they couldn't travel together on the same bus, so they agreed to meet at the airport. One by one, they arrived at the airport and began boarding the plane. But when everyone was on board, they noticed Lina's seat was empty. So they started calling her, but for some reason she didn't answer.

One of them got up from his seat on the plane and went to see a member of the staff. He asked if they knew if she was on the premises. But after searching the security cameras and the boarding lists, they confirmed that she wasn't inside the airport. Another colleague suggested checking all the seats on the plane in case she had sat in a different seat, as had happened before, because she was somewhat absent-minded. But nothing, the seats weren't there either. At that moment, the plane door closed, and no one else was allowed in for the day. At that moment, they received a call from Lina. They were shocked when they heard what had happened to her.

The taxi she was traveling in had had an accident under a tunnel. They couldn't continue until a replacement taxi arrived. She hadn't been able to call ahead to let them know because there was no cell phone coverage there. While they were still talking, the plane took off, and they worried about her because now they didn't know how she could go to the concert with them. Lina reassured them by telling them she would be on another plane. And then they breathed a sigh of relief. They told her she knew where they should meet. She arrived at the airport just a few minutes later, but she was disappointed. There were no other good flights that week to that destination, but she could catch a ferry that would take her to the country in a few hours. But the ferry took two days to arrive, and by that time the concert would be over.

When the others found out from another call she made, they despaired. The concert was hours away, and one of the most important members wasn't there. They considered canceling the concert, but they had already prepared everything and sold the tickets. It would have been a disaster to move the date; surely people had made plans to go. Lina went home crying inconsolably. She watched a soccer game to pass the time. During the game, a stadium with big screens appeared, and she saw that the players could be seen from there.
She had an idea. She quickly called her friends and asked if they would have big screens at the concert. And they said yes.

So she proposed the possibility of streaming her from her home while they played. That way, it's as if she were there playing her guitar at the same time as them. The idea was amazing and brilliant. They loved it. So they set everything up so she could stream and be part of the band playing at the same time as them. She would literally be there with them, playing virtually.

Everyone prayed that things would go well and that the internet wouldn't fail at that moment. The time for the concert arrived, the band took their places, and the big screens showed Lina live. Everyone started playing, with Lina singing from a distance. The internet didn't fail, and the concert was a success. They had pulled it off against all odds.
