The 100th Regression of the Max-Level Player: The Ending is Always the Same | Manhwa Review [En-Es]

The sentence, the predetermined judgment—none of it can be changed. Everything is destined to happen the same way, over and over again. But life number 100 must be different.

The 100th Regression of the Max-Level Player is a survival-genre manhwa with an immersive plot. It's one of the stories I started reading at the beginning of 2025. I quickly grew fond of its post-apocalyptic setting and the events unfolding around the protagonist. Currently, this manhwa has 52 published episodes.

What’s the story about? Ryu Min has lived 99 lives and returns to the past once more—for the 100th time. This is his final chance, and this time he must defeat the evil that plagues the world. A twisted game forces young people between the ages of 16 and 29 to enter a realm separate from Earth. People die in the game due to the rules and the events that occur once a month.

Each human body enters a state of hibernation, and if someone dies in the game, they die in real life too. An important detail: everyone calls it a “game,” but in reality, it's a survival scenario. As players progress, they fight to stay alive and earn rewards that grant them supernatural powers.

One of the strangest elements of this manhwa is that angels are portrayed as the antagonists—even though they’re not the ones controlling the game or each of its rounds. The angels are responsible for supervising and managing the players (or humans) within this deadly game.

An interesting aspect is that the powers players gain can be used both in the game and on Earth. The game represents a separation between soul and body, but powers and abilities can never be separated from the body itself.

As the plot unfolds, it becomes increasingly intriguing with every new revelation. The protagonist’s main goal is to save the world, save his brother, and win the game. He wants to put an end to a painful story that has brought suffering to thousands. The brutality in the plot is unavoidable.

Ryu Min has lived 100 times and lost countless emotions along the way. This makes it easy for him to act with cold malice—especially when it comes to taking lives. The scenes in the manhwa are extremely raw. The artist’s intent is to show everything exactly as it happens. Each episode is more shocking than the last, which is what makes the plot so compelling.

I enjoy the shared setting and the moral message. Even though the message of the manhwa might seem discouraging, its rawness exposes the reality of a misunderstood world—one where individual ambition outweighs collective well-being, and nothing can be avoided.

The more power someone has, the more evil tends to grow. Justice is often taken into one’s own hands. The satisfaction of taking another human life is disturbingly common. There’s no such thing as coincidence—only the constant reality of surviving each round.

Ryu Min’s mission is to form a team that will allow him to end the game that has condemned him to live 100 lives and stripped away the last traces of humanity from those forced to play it.

The characters in this manhwa each have unique personalities. As each episode progresses, they grow stronger and must confront their deepest fears. Fear empowers them—because to survive, they must either die or kill another human being. Every round is a cataclysm.

There is no time for tears or regrets over sins committed. The harsh truth is that no one can escape the macabre, indefinite sentence that’s been imposed. The core objective remains the same: finish the game and destroy the one who created it in order to bring it all to an end.

Oh, I think I heard about the title before. Just couldn't check on it coz it has just a few chapters back then. And I love the art style looks similar to The World After the Fall, Overgeard, Tomb Riding King and more. Their art style is really good. And about the story, it sounds like its an action packed series. I should check this one too. But, I will save it only for now. 52 chaps not enough for me, I might finish it in one sitting (≧▽≦). Thanks for the share.

You are from my team, I have read them both. If I'm wrong, it's from the same studio. The art style is very good. I like the way they designed the main character and the raw scenes. I hope you can read it, you will like it. 52 episodes are few, with a smaller number I started Solo Leveling, and I was suffocated by the wait every week. I understand you, I hope you can read it when it's more advanced.

I saw the cover image and what it reminded me of as soon as I saw it was Solo Leveling, I guess it will be about something similar. Reading a bit of the plot, it reminds me of SAO. Does it have something that differentiates it from these works or is it a normal Isekai?

Yes, the art is very similar. It has similar aspects, but it's not an immersive game with SAO. Suddenly, everyone is forced into a survival world where they must play live or die.
