A Walk In The Park

The Parque la Paloma, or Park of the Doves is a park where one can visit again and again and not lose interest in it.

The park has many attractions. Besides the doves and pigeons, there are chickens and ducks, goats, rabbits, a big pond which is home to fishes and turtles. There used to be a lot more animals there. During the pandemic, they were closed for a year, and when they reopened, those animals were not seen any more. Previously, I have seen a peacock, a guinea fowl, swans and two donkeys.

In the park there are playgrounds for children, and exercise stations for the adults. There is a cactus park with over 400 species of cactus. There is plenty to interest you. Something for everyone in the family. Or if you just want to relax in the park, there are three cafeterias for you to have something to drink and eat. If you like picnics, there are plenty of spaces for that too.

This is the main entrance to the park.

The cafeteria beside the entrance.

The pond which is home to fishes, turtles, and ducks.

Visitors feeding the doves and pigeons

What is this statue of a zebra doing here, no one knows. Maybe there was one residing in the park sometime ago.

There used to have a pair of donkeys. But the enclosure is empty now.

I saw a rabbit.

Goats

A fountain square where they hold activites in the Summer evenings. Looks like they were preparing for one.

Sculptures of heads.

A water point. Quite a few of these in the park.

Children playing football in the open ground.

The park is set on a hilly slope. At 200,000 square meters it is a big park. So one has to manoeuvre quite a few slopes when visiting the park.

The Parque la Paloma, or Park of the Doves is said to be one of 25 most beautiful park in Europe. So, it is definitely worth a visit when you are in the area.
