Report of my Just Completed 30 Days of Blogging

avatar

From 21st October to 19th of November I wrote a blog post everyday! 30 days of writing everyday, my, my - my God!

This is really huge for me because I love writing and since I was a kid I've always wanted to have so many pieces that can stand alone, be it books, articles, etc. But over the years I've not been prolific, I used to console myself with some quote I read somewhere about the great Nigerian writer Chinua Achebe who didn't write so many books, the quote had said that the truly great writers were usually not prolific.

Sometimes when I'm beating myself up about how I'm not prolific, I'll remember that quote and smile, 'one day at a time', I'll say, 'one day at a time'.

On better analysis, though, you'd come to find that that quote isn't as true as you'd like it to be because there are many examples of prolific but really good writers. And even if it were true, it wasn't as satisfying as my longing for having so many pieces that can stand alone. And I'm not saying completing this 30 days challenge means I've achieved my goal but I'm saying it is huge and has shown me I can be prolific, it is a collection of 30 pieces produced in such a short time that can stand on their own with a begining and an end.

Also, I completed my first book this year (still unpublished but going through the processes), a novella which would be illustrated by Danish artist @katharsisdrill and I see many of those posts forming part of many books I would write in future on fiction and non-fiction so those posts are a foundation I'm really happy about laying. This is one of the reasons why I joined Hive/what it was, I wanted something that will push me to write more.

And speaking of pushing, a big thanks to @blainjones because it was his support of the #ctpcontent writing challenge and the prizes he put up that pushed me to join the challenge. Thanks a lot, man😊👍.

30 days of writing without any of the posts being about writers' block or any of them saying stuff like 'I'm writing a post everyday but today so and so happened so I'm just going to...'. Nah😅 All pure Nevies brand content.

I'll also like to thank everyone who came around to comment and upvote what I was writing. @frot (the Transylvanian, sorry about all the Hive trouble), @manorvillemike, @hranhuk, @vikbuddy, @vcelier (the retired 😃), @kemmyb, @fw206 (I really wonder who you are, twinkle twinkle fw206. I'll like to know, though, but if you want to be anonymous its alright too, thanks a lot), @dandays, my bro @driplord and everybody else I didn't remember to mention. Thank you all.

I'm going to keep writing as frequently as I can, I've rested for just 3 days now. Imagine, I still have a lot of ideas I ended up not writing on, even after 30 days of daily writing 😜.

Nice Feat bro, trust me, being consistent is very challenging and demanding task but once you overcome this struggle, it will become your habit. And yeah it's quite usual to go out of ideas most of the time. Keep the adventures coming. See you around friend. 😊🙏. !PIZZA !LOL

This is what I'm hoping to achieve. It's definitely no easy feat. Well done 👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾. The fact you didn't just write what happened that day makes it even better.

I read somewhere about the great Nigerian writer Chinua Achebe who didn't write so many books, the quote had said that the truly great writers were usually not prolific.

I will remember this one.

I think most of us write every day. It's just that all of this writing is spread out over so many places, apps, devices and so on and much of it ends up in the void.

I write more than ever and communicate with more people than I've ever done in my life time and that makes it difficult to focus on my actual writing ;<)

Congratulations on reaching this milestone!

I remember doing something similar, back in the days, when I decided to really go for Hive ( then Steemit ), around November 2017. Crazy to think that 4 years have passed since then.

I also did the same in November 2019, writing the entire month. That led to 50k plus words ) and transmorphed into my current dino book(s).

P.S. Awesome to hear that you have a book in the works with the legendary @katharsisdrill as the illustrator!

Ooh, you've done it twice, and some of it morphed into your book, that's cool, man, same kinda thing I see myself doing soon. Thank you.

You know Katharsisdrill, cool😎👍

My pleasure Nevies. Forgive me for not being a better consumer, I'm a horrible consumer, you deserve more of my attention. Each time I stop by I'm never disappointed.

Congrats on 30 days. I'm impressed. The most I've done is 7 and I only did it once.
