Friday Focus: My Weekly Review

avatar

I want to post about my weekly Hive progress, as I have been onboarding some work colleagues but also thought it might help other new people.

Basically my learning, enjoyment and progress since I joined Hive last August is way more than I every would have imagined. I seem to have been jumping around and discovering all different things, all over the place but would struggle to tell anyone how I got to where I am now.

So last week I increased about
30 HP to 749.174
30 HPD to 92.801

I have just started transferring all the HBD to savings to see how the 12% APR interest rate works and then plan power up on the first on the month to participate in the Power Up Day fun and competitions.

I think I should be able to continue this progress by maintaining the same consistency but want to improve the quality and vary my posts into different communities, and also comment more outside my starting up comfort zone.

The 749 current HP level was not all earnings since August 2021. I saved some cash and bought about 400 Hive periodically whenever I could (and looked cheap). At a rough guess, this all looks about right as I do remember powering up about 100 per month but also spent a bit on Splinterlands chaos packs and some other second level tokens.

This week has seen a bit of a dip in lots markets and there seems to be a lot of negative sentiment around especially in Australia with most of our State border now open and covid cases on a steady rise so I bought a little more Hive at $1.65 AUD. I don't think it will drop back to where I got it last year but who knows.

Well done!

I think, honestly, to me it doesn't really matter if the Hive price dips or rises. I see Hive as a tool for my eventual retirement in a few decades. If I can get it to the point where I can be earning a livable wage through posts and curation I'd be extremely happy, even if it takes a really long time.

When the Hive price dips, you actually end up earning more Hive per post... so the dips can be great, even if it shows your overall value dropping.

Hive as a superannuation and retirement tool is a very interesting option! The idea of semi retiring early is really exciting too, more time for physical training and recovery !LOL

Hahaha, exactly!
But it also changes the mindset from a 'short-term profit' machine to a 'long-term, continuously-building' machine... it compounds a few different things.

Which might all become especially important in countries with a bigger retired population that the younger generations can't support.
