From financial recklessness to financial prudence: the habit that redefined and reshaped my Financial History.

Everyone has a story to tell about his financial lifestyle or habit. While some stories are plausible some stories on the other hand are nothing to write home about.

Some people are lucky to have good financial training on how to manage their finances right from birth and it turns out good for them. At the same time, some people happen to learn financial prudence through experience. I happen to fall into this category of people.

Nothing is as good as getting to know something at an early stage of life. This is because Most of the unnecessary mistakes made by people, you'll be able to avoid them.

I was not brought up in a financially correct home, even though both my parents were business people. My mum owned a provision shop while my dad was selling food. However, he later changed to selling building materials. However, they were all successful in their area of specialization.

One of the things I felt they didn't get right was not directly involving any of their children in the business. This is why the business ended with them. I hardly go with any of them to purchase goods from the factory or where they usually buy from.

This formed my dislike and hate toward business or entrepreneurship. However, one of the skills that stands an entrepreneur out from other people is financial prudence and level-headedness. This skill I lacked right from a young age.

Growing up, I happened to face lots of financial challenges. Chiefly such is my inability to save any amount of money. The money that enters my account has never been enough. I ensured that the money was finished before I rested.

My investment acumen amounted to zero percent. I hardly thought about investing money in anything. I remember how a man asked me to find out a business one could do with a certain amount of money. I told him that I couldn't think of anyone, oblivious to me that he wanted me to manage the outfit on his behalf. Such an opportunity passed me by even when I was wallowing in abject paucity.

As years passed by, I began to learn from my mistakes. One of those mistakes put me in indebtedness which took me years to clear myself out of debt. I started by getting a piggy box to start saving part of every money that came into my hand. Before this, two books i read changed my perspective on money . First is "Rich Dad, Poor Dad" witten by Robert Kiyosaki and second is "The Riches Man in Babylon" written by Goerge S. Clason . After reading the two books my habit began to have a new direction.

I ensured that I minimized spending money on drinks and certain food items. I also minimize sitting out with friends. I started eating food I prepared myself rather than eating from a restaurant. I ensured that I bought clothes from cheap stores. I also reduced my visits to leisure and recreational centers. I spend most of my time indoors.

However, it wasn't easy trying to cut down on those excesses at first but it was worth it. I lost some friends and relationships. Those who enjoyed me spent money unnecessarily all left me

I found a new lifestyle and it was the beginning of a new turnaround in my finances. By the end of the first year, I had some savings. I was able to support my parents at home.

From that time onward, I have lived a life of financial freedom and this habit has helped my life greatly.

Having the ability to manage one's finance is very necessary for independence. I have heard a lot about the two books that you mentioned. I will try and read them.
