A World in Crisis: Is Parenthood Still the Right Choice?

To everything, there are two sides- the bad and the good. Both can and do coexist in the same space. What matters most of how you choose to see it. Your perspective as I always say ,is everything. Just this evening, I spoke to a friend who boldly told me I was a bad person just because I wasn’t calling them everyday. To be honest, we are growing and I can’t call you everyday because I have a life of my own and things to do. If I at least make time to call you in the week and you still think I’m a bad person, that’s subjective because there are people I would not even waste my time to call.

Same applies to the world we live in. The world is both good and bad. Has always been and will continue to be. People die everyday, people are born into the world everyday. You either choose to celebrate both- the bringing of a new child into the world and the demise of someone on account of a life well lived- or see the bad from every angle- people are dying everyday because the word is wicked and why are we bringing more kids in this world if they will die anyway later in the future.

God in his own wisdom created us to fill this earth and He told us to procreate and fill the earth. He didn’t say it for saying sake. Let me not forget to add that God said he has given us the knowledge and everything in this world to use to our advantage. We can’t blame climate change on him and neither can we blame him for the same wars we brought upon ourselves. If anything is wrong with the human race, we need to look within and tackle it from there instead of reasoning around all that could go wrong. There were wars before we were born and there will be wars no matter what we do, whether we like it or not. Also, people did not start being greedy and selfish today- they always have been and always will be. That doesn’t mean this applies to all of us. We are all different and it isn’t fair to use a few peoples asking to judge the entire flock.

If we were all to stop giving birth, the world is gonna be empty at some point and even before that, who will be there to take care of you or take over whoever legacy you have built when you are older. Maybe we just wish for the world to end because that’s what will happen if we should agree to stop giving birth. Children to me are a blessing. I don’t know about you, but I do want to have kids of my own because that’s a blessing of its own. Let’s not focus on the bad things and everything that could go wrong. Instead, let’s see the good in what we have and can have and build on that to make life great and pleasant for us all.
