Counting My Blessings

I look at other people at times and I wonder what reason I would have to be ungrateful in this life. Being able to see the sun shine every blessed morning isn’t just by magic, it’s by divine grace and most people don’t get to have that. To put it, I am grateful for life because I woke up this morning and any other day before today.

I look around me and I feel blessed to have so many loved ones, family and friends by my side all the time. I have friends who have lost one or both parents and it’s not an easy thing. People have lost their whole families in wars, to pandemics or just by natural means. Yet, here I am, able to call my family and friends on the phone everyday to hear them speak and laugh at their silly jokes.

Over the years, I’ve been fortunate enough to embark on many adventures and I wouldn’t say it was totally by my doing. Some days, my friends and family put me on. It’s good to have people in your life who don’t hide ‘updates’. But I believe that updates without effort is in vain. Today, I’m grateful for opportunities. The chance to pursue my dreams, travel, make positive impact and build myself in general.

Yesterday, I saw a butterfly. Flying in its full beauty with no worries at all. At night, I stepped out and saw a half moon. It was really breathtaking. What a day to be alive! I am grateful to be able to experience the beauty of nature. Each day, with its own fill of beauty and endless wonder.

Today, I didn’t wake up at the sound of a bomb exploding. In some parts of the world , people like me or even better than me are out there trying to escape death. I’m grateful for peace and freedom. The freedom to move freely and go about my daily activities without any worry. The freedom to shape my own life’s path.

Some days, I feel my life is a mess and nothing good is going to come of it. But guess what, something even better happens in a few days times. I’m grateful for the challenges and hard times in my life. They only made me stronger and resilient. Now, I aim for the stars because it’s only through obstacles that we grow.

What is life without simple pleasures? A delicious meal, a sunny day, a good book , walk in the night, and every other little thing that brings me joy. I am ever grateful for the little moments that bring me joy. Everyone is going through their own personal stuff. But I’m grateful mine hasn’t taken my joy away.

Life is wonderful. Even on our bad days, there’s always that little thing that brings a smile to our face. What’s there to not be grateful for?

I would always be grateful for the good and bad days because life is what it is, so live it your own way.
