Homeschooling: Freedom of Education or Isolation From Peers?

Gone were the days when parents hardly sent their kids to school and even if they did, they were selective about which went to school and gender sometimes played a huge role in this. Today, it’s a different story as everyone is included and almost all kids are in school regardless of the gender. I for one know the importance of education and how much education has impacted my life. If there’s one thing I look forward to, it’s becoming a parent and obviously I look forward to getting my kids educated for the million reasons people get educated.
And with my kids education, I want my kids to attend school with others instead of being home schooled. This is because first off, I don’t think I would really have all the time in the day to home school them even if I wanted to. My line of work is very demanding and it leaves me with little to no time at all, especially during the day. Secondly, I want my kids to learn how about life not only in the confines of our home but out there. I want them to learn how to coexist with other people, know their way around others, how to speak to others and how to build relationships. I want them to know what life feels like outside of the house.
I want them to have friends, mentors and colleagues who they can turn to in any situation. It shouldn’t always be mommy and daddy. Raising a child isn’t only to role of the parent, it’s more of an everyone thing because the external environment subtle also contributes to raising kids and I don’t want my kids to lose that. I believe homeschooling my kids at a very tender age will somewhat make them very timid as they will have little to no exposure to the outside world. Exposing them to what the world feels and looks like early will set a solid foundation to letting them know what the real world looks like and before they are old enough, they will already have the foundation to conquering the world.

I wasn’t homeschooled, and I really benefited a lot from schooling alongside everyone in the system. I understand the good and bad in the system and how to use it to my advantage. I wouldn’t have wanted it to be any other way. On the side, most is is subtly had a feel of both traditional schooling and homeschooling without even knowing it and we turned out just fine. Finding a balance between both is alway a way to go. It all depends on the parents goals for their kids.
