Hive makes it onto Yahoo Finance. They totally fuck it up.

First of all it is great to see hive get some recognition as a possible Facebook competitor from Yahoo finance.

They have great taste and with 1.4 million twitter followers and a large audience it would be great to see hive noticed on their platform.

If only they hadn't fucked it up so badly.

You can read the full article here at Yahoo finance.

but the general theme is the top five web3 challengers ready to disrupt social media.

  • Niche.
  • Authencity.
  • Peepeth.
  • Steemit.
  • Hive blog.

I've never heard of the first three and don't have much regard for number four but even so it would be a positive to see Hive being spoken about on major outlets like this.

If only they hadn't fucked it up so badly.

Now I'm not a professional reporter but when I do write articles I do some research.

You know. So that I know what I'm talking about.

To have correct information and not just a heap of crap.

I would have though it was the minimum requirement in an article like this on a proper news outlet....

Hive Blog was re-launched by Justin Sun in March 2020 and it specifically uses Hive (HIVE-USD) as its base currency token.
Through using the app users gain the Hive token by upvoting content.
The amount gained by others depends on something called "Hive Power".
The amount of Hive cryptocurrency token you have allows you to convert your accumulated stash into Hive Power.
This means that your upvotes and comments will be seen as more valuable and will lead to creators gaining higher profits as a result.

That's the sum total of Hive in the article which starts with a blatantly incorrect piece of information and then followed by a few generic lines that wouldn't be entirely accurate either.

Such a poor article.

With that said their coverage of the other chains didn't seem to be much better looking at the steemit piece.

It might lead to good things though. It looks as if hive.io on twitter has reached out to the author and gotten some satisfaction from there efforts. This should lead to a better section in the article of hopefully a new article focused on hive and it's benefits as a web3 platform.

Hive.io

We would like to thank @BMcGleenon for a great chat and look forward to reading the amended article. 🎉

If nothing else it will have started a discussion in the yahoo offices as they scramble to avoid any more serious issues from their irresponsible reporting.

Pains to see so many mistakes, but see it on the bright side: there's no such thing as bad publicity! 😉 And still hoping yahoo corrects the article, giving us even more exposure.

I saw this and couldn't help but just laugh.

Just such bad, lazy, non-expert 'journalism'.

Good to see whoever runs that Hive account is holding them accountable.

We have a long way to go, but when you consider the competition in the space of censorship-resistant Web3 social media, Hive is literally the only network that can actually solve the problem.

Yeah I heard that hive was mentioned in Yahoo finance abd I was like "oh that's awesome" then when I read the article I realized about the truth. Well, hopefully we as a community can put some pressure and try that they fix that

Why do they spend almost no time to do their own research? It’s very simple to do research

a part of me wants to say it was purposefully tarnished like this.. I wish I didn't but I do :(

I don't think I have heard about the other 3 platforms either. In a way, I have a feeling this was a rushed article by someone who obviously did not do enough research.

I noticed that article and wrote about it in my newsletter Cryptocracy. As a journalist, sloppy reporting gets under my skin, makes me feel dirty. I do think they need to correct it.

It's hard for those working in mainstream finance to grasp what's going on here. Accessed through the same account; 3 different blogging frontends, tribe sites, microblogging, video sharing, and play-to-earn games.

Still, the author could have paid more attention to his article.

LMAO. It was so fun to see the community going nuts over their mistake. Finally, they heard and amended the article.

At least they saw how strong the community was.
That's enough to make some people sit up and take notice.

Looks like they sort of fixed it. No longer a JS reference for Hive Blog, and they included a quote. But still, placing Hive last in that list is a joke.

It's better. At least it has some factual content now but ya.
It's looks like a paid piece that hive was stuck onto as an afterthought.

They got a shock when the community gave a bit of backlash for the shoddy work then.

Serious lack of professionalism and standards there from Yahoo reporter, but on the positive getting mentioned by them as a potential Facebook killer is very positive, just a pity they messed it up by talking shit
