How do you manage your time and resources?

image.png

I think that it's time to bring my content to the masses. Everyday i'm reading or hearing content from people that are saying the exact same thing that i have been talking about for years and making a lot of money from doing so.

I have obviously missed a trick somewhere along the line.

I need to get out in front of more people and start taking all of their money to teach them how not to spend as much money.

Woops. It sounds bad when you say it like that. But that's just another item on my to do list.

  • Make lots of money off other people.

It's a long list but there just isn't enough time to get around to everything that I want to get around to.

  • Organize my time better.

I might have to put this at number one on my to do list as it will help with everything else that comes after.

Time is a valuable resource.

I like to think that I'm much better than most at putting my time to good use and i am probably a lot better than some but it's such a precious resource that it's a shame to waste as much of it as I do and there are a lot of people out there who do it very well.

Not that I'm ever going to spend my entire day working or making money but there is a lot of wasted space in the middle that could be used better.

More organization and more optimization is in order I think.

Where is the money coming from and how much time is needed to get there compared to all of the activities that cost time but don't earn anything.

My first steps were getting rid of Facebook and Instagram style apps as they are the biggest waste of resources out there. I still use twitter to shill hive content and to keep up to date with news but hopefully we will all be able to filter this out as project blank goes live and gets updated.

It's never that simple though. I know that twitter is never going to make me any money but the bulk of my investment is in the hive eco-system so if we want it to grow and gain value then it needs to be marketed. So I'm doing this for free but with the expectation of future returns.

How do you price in that time?

The same goes for my time on discord and the time put into helping others and creating awareness of hive. It needs to be done by all of us if we want more gains in the future.

These are tough decisions.

It's easy to say that I make a profit from writing on hive and on leo but if i don't put in the time to engage and build a following then will i get the same results from my actual content?

Ideally there would be time to write two posts a day, play 20 splinterlands matches, reply to 20 other posts, shill hive on a few other sites, work on writing some real content for an amazon book and clock out at 4pm to have time with my family and the other things that are most important to me. These are the day where I don't have work in real life, those ones are even tougher to organize as I have to go out from 9-4 and then try to fit in the rest afterwards.

This is probably possible but you would need the sort of laser focus that is only found in AI machines and maybe taskmaster who still might be AI as well. It's still undecided.

So I think that the list has to go something like this.

Set my top priorities.

  • Family and friends.
  • Physical work.
  • One post per day.
  • Keep my Splinterlands ECR below 80%
  • Leofinance ambassador activities.

These are all of the activities that are guaranteed to bring in money for time put into them as well as time for myself and my family. These take a good bit of tie but are all doable on days that i have manual work.

Then you have the days where I can focus on my online work.

  • Engage with other posts.
  • Catch up on Discord conversations.
  • Write a second post.
  • Interact with other web2 platforms.

These are secondary goals but they are still very important. If earning is the layer one protocol then these are the layer two applications. They make it al function together. It's all well and good to say you will log on and start earning money but as we all know around here that you account is a lot more than that. It's your brand, your reputation, your wallet as well as your income. You can have one without all of the others.

Then you have the rest.

The hope of future earnings.

  • Research projects.
  • Work on evergreen content like online books.
  • Find new sources of income.
  • Learn new skills.

This is just a pipe dream at the moment with the amount of free time that i currently have but it is still there for the future.

Even within those tiers there is room for improvement as i often waste a lot of time thinking about writing posts and watchin tv while writing posts. There are better ways to prepare and I know a few users with stricter schedules for posts in the past.

It might be less fun to be scheduled but it is a better use of your time.

If i want to put out 7 posts a week at minimum I want at lest 5 of them on leofinance. That is where i think that the future will be for my content and for earning on hive.

There are lots of initiative that you can use to boost your earnings with contest and curated content.

Every week I try to do

  • 2 Splinterlands posts. Curated.
  • 1 sportstalk posts. Sometimes curated for high quality.
  • 1 Cinetv contest post. Curated.
  • 5 Leofinance posts (including the splinterlands) sometimes curated for high quality.

That's 7 posts when I have the time and can be topped up with a few free writes and a couple more leo posts when the time is there.

They tend to get better rewards from being part of curated challenges and are a good way to maximize my time by knowing what I am going to be writing about on on what day.

If only I could make more time but until that happens i will just have to make the best use of my available time possible.

I have 2-3 hours a day on Hive and Splinterlands and an hour on news feeds. I don't know if it's work or fun.

It's still fun to me even when i have to turn up every day and earn a little bit of hive.

The whole economy of crypto is part of the game.

Haha so much to do, so little time...

Do you use any time management or productivity apps to help you stay accountable to yourself?

I didn't even know there was such a thing.

My schedule is all over the place on a weekly basis so it's hard to plan for getting work done.

I never know if i'll be working until the night before at the moment and then there is a young baby in the house so a lot revolves around when she will sleep for a while.

It will be a lot easier in a few months when she is older and when my current part time job is finished.

Managing time may not be an easy task for someone like myself :/
But it is doable.

I think that it's hard for everybody unless we get very strict.

Have office hours and a work schedule to get tasks done but that would take all of the fun out of being in crypto if it became a real job.

Lot of good thoughts there Niall. Time is of the essence for sure. Efficiency is the key. Good priorities man, good notes for me to follow. I need to manage better for sure.

Notes for myself to follow really but i think that there is always room to improve for most people in life.

Make small changes all the time and keep trying for more.

Time is a huge factor limiting me on what I can do on Hive. I wouldn't mind having a few more extra hours in the day.

If you had a few more hours in the day you would definitely be top of the engagement leagues every week.

You seem to hit almost every post as it is.
