Hopping In The Time Machine With Winkandwoo

I've been in a nostalgic mood of late and I probably need to snap out of it! I think this emotion was spurred on after watching a video by Kurzgesagt that made me think deeply, almost brought me to tears actually. It was about what you're doing with your life, how time is precious, being with family and a few other things in there that really hit home.

From this video though, it made me change my mindset and start thinking more positively, living in the moment and work towards long term goals I've got. I'd highly recommend following that YouTube channel as the animations are cool and the topics are really interesting and thought provoking.

Anyway, it seemed appropriate to share a track I made with @winkandwoo called Time Machine that was released in 2019. I'm sure we'd all like to travel through time to different periods in our life or maybe even in the future to see where we will be based on our decisions we make now. A sentence that I heard somewhere always stood out to me that went something along the lines of, "every decision you have made has lead you to where you are right now".

This tune was my first venture in to house music and I remember getting the vocal track back from Wink, hearing them and being completely blown away. He did an amazing job and brought this tune to a whole new dimension. You could say the 4th dimension seeing as that's the dimension for time (little joke for the dimension nerds) har har har!

Don't get me wrong, it is still good to look back at your life at times and reflect on things, learn from your experiences and help shift the direction you want to aim towards in the future but you can't spend too long looking back. The present is here to be grabbed with both hands so go geddit! Your future self will thank you!

Anyway, bit of a ramble today, hope you are all doing well and working towards your goals! If you don't have any yet, make some :)

Hope you enjoy the tune anyway!

Nicky

Time-machine... that would be a powerful toy to have.. though I would think twice if I would go to future (in case I have to come back later to present..) No, no, I would not like that.

Going back to past, oh, yes, I would like that, but some really remote past. History lessons were so boring when I was a child, I realized too late that I actually love it... although, who knows, from which angle is shown the history and who wrote it, so I would like to check it by myself :D

Looking back to past in our lives is ok to some point, but if we can look at the things that happened in the past from an objective approach, not involving emotions. Living in present, always should be (repeating to myself) always should be the best pick.

Listened to your house music track while writing 👏👏

Hahaha, yeah I'm not sure I'd want to go to the future. The mystery of it is too enticing! I agree about going back to the past though. I think I'd probably like to go back and change the University degree I chose instead of trying to do it all now, 16 years later! Oh well!

Your idea of seeing different sides of history sounds cool too! Maybe you can see who wrote them and play the piano bro-style to them as they write :D

Thanks for stopping by Brotiano! Glad you enjoyed this little adventure in the time machine!

Oh my god, we watch In a Nutshell all the time. I found that sad and depressing and it made me want to throw my screen out the window, quit work and LIVE damn it, LIVE! But then we had a snap lockdown and I remembered I have things to buy. I did call my folks though. Actually I called everyone yesterday, because I didn't want to text, and wanted to have a proper conversation without gifs.

I know what you mean about how it made you feel! I probably shouldn't have watched it just before I went to bed... twice but I think having that reality check is important from time to time. I heard you folks are in another lockdown again, hope you can stay safe over there and conversations without gifs are always good! I'm glad you spoke to all your close ones yesterday, I'm sure it made a difference :)

I was just having a discussion with someone else on POB about the philosophy of not dwelling in the past or dreaming of the future but focusing on the present. Ultimately, this is the best thing we can do to improve our lives.

I agree with that. The past is the past and it is done, there's nothing you can do about it. The future is not yet set and is a mystery but you can do something right now which is where our energy should be focused. It's easier said than done sometimes but I think removing distractions and having clear goals helps with the mindset.
