Set in a sort of utopian medieval era, we will meet Lou, a woman living in Cesarine, a dangerous city for any witch, full of hunters everywhere, so she must act carefully, live low profile or her secrets could be revealed. Lou was forced to flee from her coven after a strong event, now she must survive as a thief, along with Coco, her best friend, however, a series of eventualities leads her to marry (by force) a Chaseur, also known as a witch hunter.

If I remember correctly, this story is divided into 3 parts, the first part is quite quiet, I found the introduction enjoyable, that is, I enjoyed the first chapters getting to know Lou and Coco and their adventures and plans to get money or defend themselves from an enemy. As we advance in the story we will discover more details about the witches' world and also a bit of Lou's past and of course, we will understand how the things she has lived have made her the person she is in the present and the reason for her own struggle; from the second part of this story the tension will rise considerably, although everything seems to be fine, Lou is a target for many enemies, so sometimes she gets into trouble that makes her have to deal with a lot of dangers.

The Witch Hunter is a book where we will find lies, deceit, betrayal and drama, but also adventure, romance and magic; it is narrated in first person and some chapters will be from the point of view of Lou and others of Reid, the hunter, which I think is something positive because it allows not only to know two different versions of the events that happen but also to know the protagonists themselves, their ways of seeing the world and the development that each one takes as the story progresses between the two.

The characters in this story are great, some of them are easy to get attached to and others I hate from the first moment, I would have no problem to take a couple of them to the stake, haha. But our main character, Lou, is special, I've always liked female main characters who pursue a goal, who are brave and smart, but also sensitive. Lou inspires me a lot of beauty, life led her to learn to steal to survive, find safe places to sleep and learn to defend herself from anyone who would want to hurt her in any way, but, even though she has committed many misdeeds and can be defensive most of the time, she is a sensitive, funny woman and finds something sweet and beautiful in small details.

It's rather ironic that a witch would end up related to a witch hunter, isn't it? Reid and her are complete polar opposites: Lou is a white witch, she's cheerful, has conviction and doesn't let herself be controlled by anyone, on the other hand, Reid is a straight man, his life mission is to serve the church and not let any witch live. Of course, Reid can't find out that his wife is a witch, but I think this contrast between personalities and lifestyles create a lot of anticipation to see what things develop between the two, kind of like an enemies to lovers relationship.

I try to pay attention to the smallest details in the telling of a story, and I'm very pleased that I was able to get a sense or guess what would happen in several scenes because of it.Everything in this book has a relevant denouement: again, although it starts off at a fairly leisurely pace, as the chapters go by things will take a turn, so be on the lookout for every character and every action. Something you're unlikely to get bored of.

There are a few details that are not completely clarified or deepened, among them, in what era this story is set, I would say that it is set in the Middle Ages, however, there are some things that do not match much with this era, so I would consider it a utopian Middle Ages, given some situations that are out of the social context of this era (but ultimately it is a fantasy book and anything is possible...); on the other hand, I would have liked that the subject of magic had been treated a little more, certain specific things are exposed but even so I found it a little complex to understand or imagine some scenes where magic was used.

And to conclude, this is a book that I would read again. Although, I was very intrigued with the last chapters, so I am focused on continuing with the next books (it is a trilogy) and see the next adventures that this story will have in store for us. I am looking forward to what may happen between Lou and the hunter's relationship, as well as her complicated life as a witch and all the enemies that want to kill her.

Lou se vio obligada a huir de su aquelarre tras un fuerte evento, ahora debe sobrevivir como una ladrona, junto a Coco, su mejor amiga, sin embargo, una serie de eventualidades la lleva contraer matrimonio (a la fuerza) con un Chaseur, también conocido como cazador de brujas.

Si mal no recuerdo, esta historia está dividida en 3 partes, la primera parte es bastante tranquila, La introducción me parece amena, es decir, disfruté los primeros capítulos conociendo a Lou y a Coco y sus aventuras y los planes para conseguir dinero o defenderse de algún enemigo. Conforme avanzamos en la historia descubriremos más detalles sobre el mundo de las brujas y también un poco del pasado de Lou y por supuesto, comprenderemos como las cosas que ha vivido la han hecho la persona que es en el presente y la razón de su propia lucha; a partir de la segunda parte de esta historia la tensión subirá considerablemente, aunque todo parezca estar bien, Lou es un objetivo para muchos enemigos, así que a veces se mete en problemas que la hace tener que lidiar con un montón de peligros.

El cazador de brujas es un libro donde encontraremos mentiras, engaños, traiciones y drama, pero también aventura, romance y magia; está narrado en primera persona y algunos capítulos serán desde el punto de vista de Lou y otros de Reid, el cazador, lo cual me parece algo positivo ya que permite no solo conocer dos versiones diferentes de los hechos que suceden sino también conocer a los propios protagonistas, sus maneras de ver el mundo y el desarrollo que cada uno toma conforme avanza la historia entre ambos.

Los personajes de esta historia son geniales, algunos son fáciles de tomarles cariño y otros odio desde el primer momento, yo no tendría problemas en llevar a la hoguera a un par de ellos, jaja. Pero nuestra protagonista, Lou, es especial, siempre me han gustado los personajes principales femeninos que persiguen un objetivo, que son valientes e inteligentes, pero también sensibles. Lou me inspira mucha belleza, la vida la llevó a aprender a robar para sobrevivir, encontrar lugares seguros para dormir y aprender a defenderse de cualquiera que quisiera lastimarla de alguna manera, pero, aunque haya cometido muchas fechorías y puede mostrarse a la defensiva la mayoría de las veces, es una mujer sensible, divertida y encuentra algo dulce y hermoso en detalles pequeños.

Resulta bastante irónico que una bruja acabe relacionada con un cazado de brujas ¿cierto? Reid y ella son polos completamente opuestos: Lou es una bruja blanca, es alegre, tiene convicción y no se deja controlar por nadie, en cambio, Reid es un hombre recto, su misión de vida es servir a la iglesia y no dejar que ninguna bruja viva. Por supuesto, Reid no se puede enterar que su esposa es una bruja, pero creo que este contraste entre personalidades y modos de vida generan mucha expectativa para ver qué cosas se desarrollan entre ambos, como una especie de relación de enemies to lovers.

Trato de prestarle atención a los más mínimos detalles de la narración de una historia, y me agrada mucho haber podido tener una noción o adivinar lo que pasaría en varias escenas gracias a ello, todo en este libro tiene un desenlace relevante: de nuevo, aunque empieza con un ritmo bastante tranquilo, conforme pasen los capítulos las cosas darán un vuelco, así que estén atentos a cada personaje y a cada acción. Algo que es poco probable es que se aburran.

Hay unos cuantos detalles que no son completamente aclarados o profundizados, entre ellos, en qué época se ubica esta historia, yo diría que está ambientada en la Edad Media, sin embargo, hay algunas cosas que no concuerdan mucho con esta época, por lo que la consideraría una Edad Media utópica, dadas algunas situaciones que se salen del contexto social de esta época (pero a fin de cuentas es un libro de fantasía y cualquier cosa es posible…); por otro lado, me hubiera gustado que se hubiera tratado un poco más el tema de la magia, son expuestas ciertas cosas específicas pero aun así se me hacía un poco complejo comprender o imaginar algunas escenas donde se hacía uso de esta.

Y para finalizar, este es un libro que volvería a leer. Aunque, quedé muy intrigada con los últimos capítulos, por lo que estoy enfocada en continuar con los siguientes libros (se trata de una trilogía) y ver las siguientes aventuras que esta historia nos tendrá preparada. Yo siento expectativa por lo que puede pasar entre la relación de Lou y el cazador, así como su complicada vida como bruja y todos los enemigos que quieren matarla.
