Hello people, happy new year! Have you already written your list of resolutions? One of the most outstanding things I achieved in 2022 was that I started to develop my art in digital, I still have many things to learn, but I think I'm developing my style in a natural way, so one of my main goals is to focus much more my energy on my art to develop and learn new techniques, also, this year I want to paint much more and consider new projects and new themes.

Today I will share with you another painting of the series I started a few weeks ago

This is one of the paintings I was most looking forward to do because I wanted to project a dreamlike atmosphere, it's been a long time since I drew or painted food and during the process I remembered my times at the School of Arts where I painted a lot of fruits and bottles.

Process:

I made the sketch almost at the same time as the first painting of the series, I traced with the pencil the space where I would make the sketch and then I divided it into a 3x3 grid to be able to establish the elements proportionally on the sheet.

I have improved a lot my coloring when it comes to digital drawings, but now I feel a little insecure when I have to choose the color palette for traditional drawings or paintings, because I'm afraid of ruining or not being able to completely change the colors of the paper... anyway, I tried to let myself go during the process and mix the shades of colors that were more or less according to what I wanted and so I started to paint.

Just like last time, I cut strips of masking tape and stuck them on the edges of the paper to establish a sort of frame that would allow me to work more comfortably and thus avoid messing up the edges of the sheet.

The element to which I put the most effort and detail was the cup, I felt a lot of satisfaction as I added the color transitions and shadows, I wanted it to look realistic.

Another thing I liked about doing this painting is that I played a little more with the planes between one element and another, I tried to make the focus of attention to be especially on the cup and the stream of pink tea or milk that was being poured into it, and that the rest of the things completed the environment and could tell a little story.

I wasn't quite sure about how to paint the little bubbles on the surface of the drink and improvised a bit with the crayons, but I knew they looked nothing like what one might see in reality in a cup of tea or coffee with hot milk, but I didn't quite know how to fix it, so I thought I'd leave the bubbles like that and call the painting done.

I'm thankful I didn't.

I took a nice break during the week between Christmas and New Year's and didn't touch my paintings, but in the back of my mind I still had the painting to finish....

Last night I finally got back to work and spent almost an hour modifying some details I was not so comfortable with, which was not only the bubbles in the drink but also the milk being poured, as I felt it had a bit of a flat shape, which I solved by painting over it with a darker color and adding the glitters more accurately. As for the bubbles, I eliminated them, improved the surface shading a bit and was finally satisfied with the result.

Agradezco no haberlo hecho.

¡Saludos!
