I do not have much work experience because my parents never allowed me to work before getting admission into the university or even during long vacations while in school. They believed that it was going to make me focus more on how to make money instead of pursuing my academic career.

So I never worked till after my university education. I got a bit delayed in school for my NYSC program and so, instead of being idle, I had to look for a job to keep me busy while I wait to get called for NYSC. I submitted my CV to a private primary and secondary school just few kilometers from home, cus I didn't want to spend a dine as regards to transportation.

Luckily for me, I got the job not as a teacher, but as the school secretary. The pay was also a bit cool for a start. I was so amazed that at least the school proprietress considered my qualifications to give me such position and also to pay me such an amount. You might wondering the amount I was being paid.. lol! I was paid a whooping sum of N20,000 about $40. Honestly, it was so huge for me at that time compared to what the teachers were being paid.. so I embraced it with my whole heart😅

I had a meeting with the school proprietress and was properly put through on what my job description looks like and it looked so easy.
My job description was to be in charge of pupils registration, school fee payments, receiving parents or visitors that came around the school and also in charge of teachers attendance, checking their lesson notes, and also paying their salaries.

But the reverse was the case when I resumed duty, if you've been in such a position, you will agree with me that dealing with human beings is a very difficult task. Some parents were so mannered and nice while on the other hand, some were very saucy and mean to me, some would even nearly want to slap me, when I question them as to what prompted their visit to the school. And based on work levels, I couldn't even reply back to those mean parents in anger or try to shout back. I'm sure you know what I mean

On the aspect of the teachers, some were not friendly at all for no reason. I couldn't trade discharging my duties so as to earn their friendship, so I guess that was why they weren't friendly to me. One thing that everyone should run away from is working in a toxic environment, I would have quit the job at that moment cus the hatred was getting heavy, but I just had to continue cus I knew I was just doing the job for a while.

I'm not that good with figures, but up till now it amazes me that I was able to scale through with the whole money matters of the school. Asides the cleaner of the school, I was always the first person to be in the school and the last to get home because I was always on the road to get to the bank everyday after school, so I could make a deposit of what the school made for the day. It wasn't an easy one for me at all and it sure made a great impact on my physical looks, I lost weight and my fresh skin got depreciated. But I continued the job for three months, and even to the fifth month.. The school proprietress always paid as at when due, so it even encouraged me to move on with the job.

Not until one day, I was told that I will be combining my secretary duties with teaching the senior secondary students biology subject as that was the position I initially applied for in my application letter.
Whatt?

At first when I heard the news, I reacted lightly to it. But when I reasoned the whole thing, I knew it was going to be so burdensome for me. I met with the proprietress and explained to her why I can't combine the two duties.. she understood and pleaded that I should handle the biology classes till they could get a new biology teacher. She even offered to add N10,000 to my salary and so I agreed... N30,000 per month ain't a bad idea right? 😅

Somehow, I managed the two duties for a month, though it was a very hectic one for me, but I pushed on regardless. She fulfilled her promise by paying me the extra pay for that month but from the second month, things changed. She broke her promise and didn't even care when I made complaints.. It continued even to the fourth month, but I couldn't just stop because the students were now fond of me. I continued till finally I was called for my NYSC to go serve my father land. And that was how I quit the job without my extra pay for three months.

I was so bittered as to why the proprietress treated me in such a manner despite how loyal I've been but on the long run, I realized that working for her school really shaped me into a better person. If not for any other thing, the anger issues that I had was controlled. The normal me will shout back at anyone who shouts at me in anger or even slap anyone who slaps me.. All that changed while working for her.

And as for my best job, hmm! I think I still live with the trauma of the experience I had with my first job. So aside my compulsory NYSC primary assignment job, I've not worked with anyone all these while. My best jobs started around the COVID-19 period when I discovered that online jobs are the real game changer. I get to work from the comfort of my home, with no physical encounter with mean and sausy individuals. Blogging is one of them and the hive platform has been a good place for me. Cryptocurrency, graphics designing and many more to come has been my best job so far and I'm just very cool with it for now till when I'm fully ready to get a conducive physical job.

Wow... that headmistress really tried to take advantage of you. But that is just how most of these people are, they only care about what they stand to gain.
