Back to School: The Expenses Never End

Everywhere in my neighbourhood is smelling back to school this period. I went to the market, and mothers were scattered everywhere shopping for different items for their kids. In fact, I saw some marketers selling back-to-school items this season. Not that it's their major business niche, but it's something they saw as an opportunity to cash out and return back to their normal daily business.

I think it's a smart move; anything legal to earn money is okay. That's why smart people make it in life most of the time because, some opportunities, requires being smart to stand out. I know of a young guy in our community who saw that no one sells cooking gas except we take transport to the filling station. He saw the challenge in our community and took advantage of it immediately to make millions of naira for himself, so yeah, it's always a big yes to think ahead of others and do something different to succeed.

That's by the way. So a new school session is just by the corner, and most parents, including me, have been under pressure to meet up with all the requirements for the kids.

Inflation kept dealing with us in this part of my world, and just when we thought the things would get better, it kept getting tougher, but God got our back regardless. I went shopping for school items that needed to be replaced for my boys, and before I blinked my eyes a lot, a lot of money had gone out from my pocket.

I haven't even paid their fees but paid for their school bus fees at least to secure their spot before it's filled. Trust me, due to the price of petrol in our country, the school bus fee increased by 200%. It's just so terrible, but I have no choice but to pay.
Hopefully, the remaining fees will be paid with time.

This was a long vacation for my kids, but since the resumption is in one week's time, I have started preparing their minds, getting them set for the academic work ahead, and getting other school stuff ready. Good enough, they feel excited about returning back to school after a long holiday, and I am equally happy for the relief coming up for me once school resumes, but then, the early morning waking up with my alarm to prepare the kids to join the school bus is another nightmare, hahaha.

Parenting has no end indeed, but the grace is there for moms.
