CHILD SPACING πŸ‘Œ

avatar

I have received a good number of complaints from both my friends and some of my in-laws on the manner I space my kids. To them, I give a lot of gaps like the olden days mothers. Really? Well, in this post I will share my view through my experience on the health benefit of child spacing in the life of mothers and also the general economic benefits.

Greetings to all the super moms and amazing Daddies of Hive community. It's a beautiful Sunday evening from my end and I do hope we are having a relaxing weekend. It's my wish that your journey with me as I quickly share my opinion on this title.

Β°My baby and I

Child spacing simply means birth-to-birth intervals. That's the period parents wait between pregnancies. Every woman who has given birth will understand that birthing is never an easy peasy journey right from the time of conception. Whether you birthed your baby through vaginal delivery or a cesarean section, it is expected that mothers observe some rest following pregnancy so that the tissues in their system that were lost during delivery will be regenerated.

20220815_123858_0001.png

The World Health Organization recommended at "least" 2 years of birth spacing. However, I understand that some mothers who have had some difficulty in giving birth wouldn't want to wait any longer once God blesses them with the fruit of the womb. Some people, on the other hand, love the idea of birthing their desired number of children so quickly without any significant spacing to face nurturing the kids at once. Many parents have different reasons for not applying child spacing but then, whatever the reasons might be, I think that mothers should make every effort to give their bodies a little rest before another pregnancy. It's a choice anyway just my view though πŸ‘

The Nigerian government saw the importance of birth control and provided a family planning program free of charge to so many government health centers which are made accessible to all people. Lectures about family planning are being given to every available mother at the health center alongside the free family planning method one chooses. This is is important as it helps women to take charge of their health following pregnancy, helps in timing and child spacing, and also controls the frequency of pregnancy in this harsh economy.

However, it's not compulsory. Some people believe that it has side effects, and they are right anyway but, even paracetamol tablets do have side effects too...lol. The point I am trying to make is for mothers to find means of getting some rest before another pregnancy to encourage a healthy lifestyle. Natural family planning is still available for anyone who is not comfortable with the family planning techniques available.

Talking about the economic benefits, child spacing doesn't make one rich but it does give room to parents to plan for the well-being of their children considering the finances available. Some wealthy ones may not see the need to consider finances as a point for child spacing but what about the health of the mom?

I have also seen some married mothers who did abortions due to unplanned pregnancies. These parents want to space their children but maybe due to mistakes, failed family planning, etc, another pregnancy sets in. It can happen to anyone but I wish we can be more intentional.

image.png

In conclusion, I am not an ancient mom as some people said, I am a digital mom πŸ˜‚ who values my health and considers the available finances while bringing lives into this world. My first son is 7 years old plus, my second son is 4 years old plus and my last baby is 1-year-old plus, that's 3 years of birth intervals. Till tomorrow, I will continue to encourage child spacing to mothers specifically because of how important it is to our health.

THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR READING!!

PLEASE NOTE, THE PICTURE IS MINE

Mothers ought to know the importance of child spacing. They should value their health and that of the baby, and also consider their finance before bringing another lives into the world.

Either digital or analog, you are a knowledgeable mum, childbirth is not easy as said, being a mum myself, i know how it weighs the body down, from pregnancy, to delivery enliven nursing and it never really stops, i spaced my two daughter 3 years, at least the older one can do little things herself while i take care of her sister. Also get to rest my body, the body never really goes back to the way it was pre pregnancy. Childbirth spacing should be continued for as long as we still exist on mother earth, all mums should learn how to care for themselves, even if you had an easy peasy pregnancy.

Hehe. I'm not a mom, and neither am I a dad, yet. But I think I get your point. Child spacing is very important, especially if you live in a country where everything is not going well.

Some people won't wait at all after giving birth before they decide to have another one. The best thing to do is to wait a little longer. But us 2 years not to much?

When I get married, I just want two kids; a boy and a girl. The boy should come first, then after 1 year...πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚ see what I'm.thinkingπŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚

Hahaha πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚
2 years can be much for some people but I am stressing on the need for mothers to regain their health totally. Well everyone aren't the same, some might be very stronger than others in few months but the goal should remain to be very fit before embarking on another journey.

Favor is getting his mind ready πŸ˜‚βœ…
That's nice and thanks so much for your time πŸ€—πŸ‘Œ

Oh yes! I understand! They should regain their health completely before going for another one.

Ha ha. It is not a bad idea to get my mind ready o.

You're welcome😊.

You have made really good points and I'm sure so many will agree with you because you have stated some real facts. Child spacing also has effect on the children too. Just imagine a mother giving birth to her children every year, the children will grow up not to know what respect truly is if cares not taken.

The truth is that if I should go deep into this topic, it's gonna be a pretty lenghty one and I wouldn't want that. From my experience so far, there are things to note about child spacing and you just pointed out one here. I really appreciate your stopping by πŸ‘πŸ€—πŸ₯°

Hello, @nkemakonam89

I am delighted with your informative, opinionated and thoughtful post born out of a concern: mother's health and recovery. I found it important what you raise , because sometimes in a light way we think about the mother's well being. I like your proposal of the interval between children and the fact that you have the experience. As a mother I know that every organism in general works differently; in my case I planned my daughter and it took me so long and then I was so physically and intellectually exhausted that I did not look for a second child. You are really aware of the reality and you share it from a humanizing point of view, thinking about the mother and the body felt by giving birth and recovering takes time.
Hugs!

As a mother I know that every organism in general works differently

This is so true πŸ‘Œ
We are all different and it becomes important that we watch our system so closely, I am much concerned on the well being of my fellow mom.
So sorry about your story
It's well with you mom ❀️

...and amazing Daddies of Hive community

Aww...thank youπŸ₯°πŸ˜‹

I with you on this child spacing matter. As for me, I do now want to be seeing my wife with big belly all year round, every year. It'll be too much work for her. It's not easy to be making babies, let alone doing it every year. And besides, there will still be the older child(ren) to take care of.

For me, 3 years is perfect. I hope my future wife agrees sha...
