Financially and Emotionally Drained Due to Unexpected Expenses

How do you cope with unexpected expenses? I guess this is not always a sweet experience for anyone but the truth is that it happens to many people at one point in our lives. These few days, I have been away from hive because of the issues I had with my mobile phone. It took me unaware, I never saw it coming. The irony of the whole thing is that my last blog in the morning before I lost my phone was about how my mobile phone has been a source of financial relief to me and my family, how I have been utilizing my phone judiciously, making money with it instead spending much time via other social media apps without earning. It was as if my village people read that blog and decided to punish me in the evening of that same day but it was fine,lol. From my experience within these few days, I will boldly say that the importance of savings/emergency funds can never be overemphasized.

It was on a Saturday morning, I was doing laundry 🧺 in my home. After a while, I decided to spread some washed clothes and before I returned, my son already took my phone and wrapped it with unwashed clothes, unknowingly to me, I packed the clothes in soapy water and soaked it very well without knowing that I was soaking my phone as well. To make matters worst, I left the soaked cloth to attend to my last baby, then I remembered an important call to make, and that was when I started looking for my phone. Hmmm, I asked everyone at home (because I have a particular place I normally keep my phone if not in use) and my son boldly told me that he warrapped my phone under unwashed clothes....wooottt!!! Unwashed Clothes I already soaked for a while? I rushed and picked up my phone in the soapy water...I felt so sad, confused, and depressed. I quickly dressed and took it to the phone repairer where they loosened the phone and dried it with some kind of light. To cut the story short, all their efforts since Saturday to date to revive my phone proved abortive.

According to the engineer, it could be because the phone fell inside soapy water which is not healthy for it and secondly, it overstayed inside the water and all the parts of the phone got soaked so much. I don't know how best to explain how I felt...it was so bad. Life without a phone, internet, losing money each day. and other limitations. I couldn't bear the whole drama, I didn't have savings for such expenses, and I already have bills in the queue but this happened; Unexpected Expenses.

I once blogged on the topic titled: "what did I do to deserve this kind of love". Well, due to a lack of savings and emergency funds, I was planning on how to rescue the situation when a kind soul who heard what happened to me gifted me another new device today!

The new phone

Making this blog with the new phone and I can't contain my joy honestly, I feel loved and I am grateful. I was Emotionally Drained but not anymore, I am back to life..lol. This experience also thought me a life lesson which is to always save no matter how the bills keep piling In case of an important matter like this. Emergency funds indeed could be a lifesaver!
