My Encounter with Some Nigerian Press Today - I Shared My Thought About the Current money issue in our Country

IMG20230208172121.jpg

If only the Nigerian government will work on the reports from the masses generated by the press so far, then we may expect a positive change. I'm glad to see many Nigerians who are bold enough to speak up🗣️, without fear of anyone. The issues with the new Nigerian notes on poor circulation and its effect on the people have been trending on social media. People Have been expressing how bad the situation has been since the redesigning policy began and the end use of the old Naira Notes. The CBN later extended the deadline for the use of the old notes to 10th February 2023. So apparently, they have been seizing every old note they receive in the bank hall without releasing much of the new notes and this made things difficult for the people.

I wouldn't blame Nigerians, this is a new implementation and people are yet to adapt to it. However, not all traders accept bank transfers for a business, they prefer cash otherwise, they won't release their goods. For the ones that will accept bank transfers, most times there is always not a good network for a successful transfer, making buying and selling more difficult. We still need physical cash even with the cashless policy the government wants to embark on. Short-distance transportation fares and other minor transactions don't necessarily need a transfer.

Scarcity of fiat, people making transfers to the traders who agree to accept that

Well, the effects of the scarcity of fiat currently have made a lot of people lose their precious money just to have access to cash. Take for instance, if you want to withdraw #10,000 (about $14), you will have to pay charges of #2,000 ($3) to have the money via POS. Imagine losing $3 just like that in this harsh economy. Most times, getting the money (cash) is like searching for gold. If you've been to the bank you'll know how hard it's to get cash nowadays. POS people also pay charges to get cash from the bank, can you imagine that they also buy money from big businessmen in the market, and then resell it to others at such high charges (money to money business)? In my opinion, we can't blame the POS people, Government is the one that what us to suffer. This is not the first time currency was changed, we never suffered like this before, So their deadline is the problem. No point in having a deadline, let both notes coexist till the old note vanishes completely. Well, I hope this drama will end soon because I am yet to know where it's leading us to.

I made sure to express myself and let the government hear my voice, hopefully, they will act on it.
I was also interviewed on the forthcoming Nigerian election...

IMG20230208172105.jpg

The presidential election is coming up on the 25th of this month. I express my readiness for the voting exercise by having my PVC (permanent voters card) and I wish that a good number of Nigerians will take responsibility by exercising their civil rights come 25th, February 2023.

This Encounter was videoed and recorded and if I get to watch it on Television, I promise to Capture myself speaking and post it here on hive, a beautiful idea from @sayee moma😇❤

Let's speak up when the opportunity presents itself, who knows it might favor us.

THANKS FOR READING!!!

Hummn. Nice one from the great citizen of Nigeria. I love your courage.

Nigeria is what it is. We hope and pray for better. We hope our voice is heard..

And moreover we are part of the ones making things hard upon ourselves. Government have their own portion and so we are the one playing the greater one. Imagine pos without any tangible reason hike the price of withdrawal to such an amount. Don’t they feel concerned about others too? Since they felt people would be left with no option than to pay for it

The government gave room for all these mess you know. They weren't ready before implementing this, then imagine pos people paying inside the bank to collect the money first... before selling to us,what does that tell you.
Well, we all are already inside the mess, the best we can do is to come out in mass and vote for a good presidential candidate on the election day

Thanks for your amazing time on my blog

Hahahahaha... see as Madam Nkem was seriously expressing herself. Who wouldn´t be when everything has turned upside down for Nigerians? They made it look so tough like hell and expect people to sit? This is why everyone is out vandalizing and burning banks everywhere.

To me, they should have allowed both naira notes to coexist together until we cannot see the old naira note again. I think this is what the court has ordered recently. Something they should have begun with before things got to where it is now. It wasn´t like this on past notes that were redesigned.
May God help us and while we do our best to vote on election day, God should choose the best for us.

This sounds like a very bad situation. If the government wants people to use online transactions instead of cash, of course they have to make sure that there's a network ro connect to everywhere first, and also make online transactions fast and cheap!

We all Nigerians can relate to the frustration of needing cash to do minor transaction. They are collecting a charge of #250 here for every 1000 naira collected. It's annoying.

I like the solution you suggested by not having a deadline and letting both noted to coexist until it wipes away. It is crazy when the new notes are not going round yet there is a deadline to stop using the old one.
