Some tactics I adopt to keep me mentally fit

We cannot work effectively and efficiently without a sound mind, and even when we struggle to do so, the outcome will not be admirable. Most people neglect their mental health, whereas it's something that should be given the utmost attention. The world we live in today is full of noise, and depression is becoming rampant, leading people to make the decision to commit suicide. I have heard lots of stories of people who attempted to take their own lives due to the challenges they were going through. Both emotional and financial issues have affected the mental health of many, which has led to depression in some people and even made some take their lives.

A lot of things give us stress, ranging from our jobs, chores, bad relationships, academic activities, etc., all of which have negative effects on our mental health. But then, why should we continue with things that can tamper with our health? Why not get rid of it? Sometimes it looks difficult to deal with knowing the negative effects of mental health; no one should condone negative energies. I experienced mental health issues and called myself into order. I didn't need anyone to remind me that sound health is more important than riches.

Things like financial constraints are a common factor that affects our mental health, especially when we are faced with many responsibilities without anyone to assist. Personally, I have been in this situation for a long time, and the experience wasn't funny. A lot of times, I became forgetful due to the thousand and one things that ran through my brain. Either I am thinking of my kids fees, or how to restock our food stuff, or how to attend to utility bills, and the rest. My mind was never at rest, and to crown it all, I kept depriving myself of sleep while trying to work hard in order to meet the needs of my family. With time, I broke down; that was when I realized what I had done to my health. Depression was real; I transferred aggression, unnecessary anger, and bitterness. I was going in sane until I started practicing the following tips:

Talk to someone: I am not the type to remain silent when things are not right with me. The first person I talked to after God is my twin brother. Sharing whatever I am going through has a way of giving me some relief. Some words are soothing and bring back our wandering minds. My trustworthy friends are not left out, and on different occasions, they have assisted me in coming out of mental health issues. Speaking out is the goal for me.

Sleep more: when I discovered that my mental health was already at risk, I tried getting a lot of sleep, both at night and during the day. I try as much as I can to forget about the troubles and calm my system. This has been helpful.

Engage in fun activities. I don't joke with this tip in a moment like that. Once I am engaging in activities with my friends, I think less about my issues and have my sanity back.

Worry less and pray more. I have never seen anyone achieve results while worrying. It only adds to our troubles, so in a situation like this, I embrace my maker and talk to him about my issues.

Eating more healthy food: when I noticed danger in my mental health, I doubled my eating habit. I needed to do everything in my power to regain my health. Fresh food and fruits became my good friends and made great changes in my health.

There are other things I do, like listening to music more, taking a walk to nature gardens, etc. Health is wealth; our mental health is very important, just like our physical well-being. It should be our priority and never be neglected.

This is my late entry to the #hivelearners contest on week 63, edition 2, topic titled mental health."

Taking care of one's mental health matters. And you are right, it is preferable to stay off those things that cause it before one goes AWOL.

I love the cited solutions to fight off the drainage and I am glad they help .
