Today is another big day in my country; it is the day our president elect was sworn in officially as the president of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. Right from the election process, this particular president wasn't the choice of many Nigerians; it was obvious how the party rigged the election to his favor in order for them to accomplish their motives. What baffles me is watching a video of this new president prior to his cunning win, where he stated that he must win the election and no matter how Nigerians protest, he will remove the fuel subsidy.

Well,a president of a country is expected to have the country's welfare at heart, but it's obvious that our new president, Bola Tinubu, doesn't have our welfare at heart. Many Nigerians are already suffering from feminine problems. There is hunger in the country, inflation is on the high side, and today, of all days after the inauguration, he already declared that fuel subsidies are over! Like seriously? The cost of a liter of fuel in my area before the announcement was #200, but after the announcement,many filling stations started hurdling fuel, waiting for the official price, while some started selling a liter of fuel from #200 to #500.

The effect of this subsidy removal on gasoline is that everything else will be on the increase again. Things to buy will be doubled; bills, school fees, and the rest will be extra high. This is the reality; there is no point beating about the bush. At this point, doubling our hustle is not enough; one needs to triple the hustle in order to withstand what is ahead of us.

Nigeria is a great country, but it has lacked good leadership. An oil-producing country with nothing to show for it. I wasn't happy with the new update, but that's the reality. Surviving in Nigeria nowadays is a hassle. Seeking out more side hustles is a good way to survive the current situation. As of tomorrow, the cost of things on the market will be unimaginable. I trust our market men and women to take advantage of every opportunity, even with old stocks. I am trying to face the reality while working hard to keep up with the happenings.

Honestly I'm not even going to talk too much about it. All those people that kept saying that we are concluding without giving him a chance, I hope they are very happy to see what is happening barely twenty four hours later. That's what happens when the "powers that be" try to use the wishes and welfare of the people they are governing to play soccer.

I have been worried since yesterday after the announcement. But then, those Nigerians who thinks they are wise in voting him into power will still suffer the same thing with us. I weep for this country...as far as we live, we will always strive to survive

That's the point to note. We will survive. One of the things I admire about us is that no matter how low we may sink, we'll always find away to smile. I hope things get better for us. I really do. We've suffered enough.
