THE SECRET TREASURE

There are some family secrets that end up becoming great regrets in the long run. Have you imagined why some people who lost their lives, perhaps accidentally, never get anyone to claim some of their assets somewhere? That is because they never see it as a necessity to disclose every piece of information to their close family members.

Life is really unpredictable, and death doesn't announce when it is taking anyone away from the world. Due to some personal reasons, there are people whose wealth ends up sitting somewhere without their family or friends knowing anything about them.Sometimes, it's usually in the favor of the banking sector to use their millions of naira for business and investment when no one comes to claim the money. Of course, who will go claim what he isn't aware of?

I was in a conversation with a friend yesterday evening, and he was telling me how his wealthy uncle died and the wife and children never knew about most of the man's assets all over the state. Obviously, when he was alive, he made the family aware of some and didn't think it was necessary to carry them along in all his assets, not knowing that a day would come when he would no longer be on this earth to keep protecting his wealth. After 7 years of the man's death, a friend of his, maybe out of his conscience, came to the wife and informed her of his husband's assets. Can you just imagine? He must have swam in the man's wealth and saved much before letting the man's family know. Of course I wouldn't blame the friend; I would blame the dead, but of what use now? It then becomes a lesson to you and me to always let a family member know of our assets for wealth continuity. No one knows what tomorrow will turn out to be.

There was also a case of a guy who died during COVID lockdown; his wealth came from crypto, and when he died, his family couldn't get a pin out of his wealth because they couldn't access his wallet, and over $50,000 was left in one wallet without any use.

I am wondering why he would hide everything from everyone; does it mean that he doesn't have anyone he can trust in his life?.

Aside from that, I thought that letting your kids or your siblings know much about the business you are into would enhance wealth continuity. If it's only you who know about that business, it might close tomorrow if you are found wanting. There are some things one needs to be intentional about, and setting a good standard for family is one of them.

I deliberated on the short story above, and I feel it's painful for a stranger to enjoy my asset somewhere because I kept it secret from my family. Things like assets, investments, and business are not meant to be kept secret from your family; at least a close family member should be aware, and in the case of a man with a wife and children, they should also be guided in the line of business for continuity should anything happen, and they should have knowledge of all assets and investments.Even with this, it would make life easier for the family a deceased person leaves behind in the world because they would continue things from where the deceased stopped. A lot of families have fallen from grace to grass because of these issues, and because many do not see it as a big deal, their families end up suffering for the deceased's lack of understanding.

These are my little thoughts to share today. What do you think about this? Let me hear your viewpoint in the comment section.

Thank you!

Aaaaah! You reminded me of something, Nkem.

My brother said if my father hadn't tell them his ATM pin code, they would never be able to take the money out.

My father faced a sudden death. One day he was healthy and the other day he was out of his consciousness. A few weeks before his death he had a conversation with my moms and brothers in which he told his expectations with his family after his death- be united, caring and also, just in financial matters. He also told that the necessary information is kept in his drawer. We never knew that he would leave us so soon.

After his death, when his drawer was opened, the pin to his ATM was kept on the front side written on a separate paper.

Life is really unpredictable. The most untrustworthy. It is better to tell someone about your assets before you are no more.

Oh my goodness 🤭
Your late Dad did well honestly

If not, it would have been difficult to claim his money left in the bank.

My good friend is also facing this issue..the husband used his 90 years old mum as his next of kin and never disclosed all his assets and pin to her. Whenever they visit the shopping mall , the man will obviously hide his pin while paying... well, I am not wishing anyone death, but being open can save the day

Thank you so much for reading and contributing 😍😇👍

Whether we wish for death or not, it comes any way. If not sooner, then later but it is sure to come.

Taking precautionary measures is never bad

I just read @amberkashif comment after reading this thoughtful post and it got me really wondering if I have my assets access shared already... Will have to confirm that and get it done.

I agree so much with having to trust someone to allow continuity. I think it's better to leave it with who you know would squander your money than leave to a total stranger hehe.

Really thoughtful one here ma'am, glad to stop by 💯

This thought came out of several stories I have heard in the past. People overlook some important things which are not supposed to be so

It will be nice if we all look into this

I also need to tell someone about my assets and how to access it. Let's do it soon

Its always best to at least leave clues about these things; clues that only the one you trust can have access to. Im a person who likes puzzles and when it comes finances, the keys and passwords shouldnt be left for just anyone. In the end, it balls down to telling the people you trust about these things.

this was a very thoughtful post dearest.✨

Yea, anything about finances is usually sensitive and have to be handled with the person we trust. But sometimes, people don't disclose a bit most things they had go down just like that

Thanks for commending my thoughts on this post wongi dear ❤️

You're very right , most times they die so abruptly and their years of struggles are locked away .

Good morning and have a beautiful day.

I have thought several times about it. Suppose i died accidentally and no one will be a able access my crypto assets anymore even if I have billion dollars of asset in crypto.

I made some system and I shared some hints with my family members. If something happens to me, they will be able to access my assets. It just a matter of time.

Wow...good you thought about this as well...i think many don't and no one knows what tommorw will say. It's nice we look deep into some issues properly and do the needful

I thought about it because accept no one in my family have any knowledge about crypto. As well as I can predict only my little brother have will be capable to access it and he is interested also in cryptocurrency but he is not knowledgeable enough to understand everything. So I made backup plans for it.

(Edited)

I feel most people hide their wealth from others because they have trust issues and because of how the hearts of people are, but all the same, we should at least let one person know or better still have it down in writing somewhere in our house, so that other families can find out about it in the end.

You are right. Trust issues is the one major reason why people keep secrets like this, however, I love Ur suggestion 😇

Many prefer to disclose all their secret to other people than their family members.
A woman lost her husband and that made me meet this woman.
After the death of her husband, the company gave a huge amount of money to the woman. she used the money to purchase land and have a structure built on it.
The main money in the man's account, the woman didn't have access to it, because the man has disclosed every secret about his family to the bank manager so the wife was not able to collect the husband's money till date.

Imagine...this is sad
A stranger enjoying the wealth of the man when the wife should do so

Yes, the poor woman has gone to the manager's office severally but she kept giving the woman excuses.
May God help us.

Hiding your wealth or asset from your spouse is what I will not support. But letting extended family know all your worth? It depends on the family you come from. Some families will help you protect it , while from what we have seen, heard or experienced, some might take the man out of the way just to inherit his wealth and punish his wife.

I know a man who sold his elder brother's car even while the brother was alive. They started making case in the family house and their father begged him to drop the case and not even involve police. His innocent wife asked the man to forget it that if his brother could do this, he obvious has higher power and can kill him. That's how they left him. Tell me, if that guy knows every asset and wealth his older brother has, will he not do worse?

Of course such brother will do the worse but my point is giving out this kind of info to people we trust especially our spouses or children

A lot of cash has gone down the drain with people making this same mistake, never telling their family about their wealth.

My uncle died leaving stack of wealth outside of which his wife and children couldn't trace the money, some were lost and some were retrieve by his right hand man secretly, who shared the money with the bank manager.

Very annoying

Hmmmm
This is annoying indeed
Making a stranger rich because of secrets
We can only learn from their mistakes

This actually happened to my best friend's uncle and till date he can't access it not that he doesn't know where it is but the business partners with his uncle had threaten him several times in case he made an attempt.

Now, if his uncle has not just told him but gave him access, it would have been much easier. It's important to find that someone who you can entrust your wealth in case they pass on.

Quite a thoughtful post! I came from Dreemport.

Even tho I don't have a lot of assets I think it's really necessary to share password or pins to your trusted fam members or friend
