The Wet Season's Two Faces - LOH #292
We are currently in the wet season in my country, and of course, every season comes with its uniqueness, including its challenges.
When it's rainy season like it is now, it comes with a bittersweet experience for me.There are days I love amd crave to see a touch of rainfall on my body ahd on the ground and there are also many days I begin to count days to when the wey season will be over !
The thing I love about the wet season is the big relief I get from the intense heat wave we normally suffer prior to the wet season. The experience is usually exhausting, dehydrating, harshness, and quite uncomfortable weather . It feels like we are always being baked in the oven. It is usually worse due to lack of electricity to at least use a fan or A.C. whenever necessary, so switching to the wet season is only a rescue until after one month into the season; the rest will become a nightmare.
Without dwelling more on the favorite things I love about wet season, the things I dislike a lot are the many discomforts it brings along. Currently, there are many wet cloths in my home. clothes I washed since three days ago, yet rain has refused to stop; it's been everyday rain, no break, no sunshine; everywhere is just so dull and messy.
The roads have been terrible, especially in my street where lands are filled with water. So the land hardly absorbs rain unless the sun shines immediately and with no space for the rainfall; accessing our street roads has been terrible. Vehicles are sinking, bikes are sinking, and human beings are trapped. School children who don't follow the school bus miss out on school due to floods here and there; even the market is affected.
To be honest, the discomfort that comes with the wet season in my country is too overwhelming,so yeah, wey season comes with mix feelings for me .

Honestly, we people here living in Lokoja especially the side I'm staying always pray for rain to fall because heat here in our side is too much, and to top it up NEPA to will refuse to give us light making us to sleep in the heat. But since few days now we are enjoying rain and the heat has subdued and we are happy. But there are times I will pray that rain should not fall especially if I'm doing something or cooking because I hate it when rain meet me while cooking or going out.

Wow! The road looks impassable! I know what flooding is like as we've had 3 100-year type floods over the past 5 years! It is no fun for sure! On the other hand, I can understand the relief the rain brings from the harsh heat.

very impassable except with rain boots 😀...here , even children has their rain boots to navigate the rainy season because not all families are mobile
flooding is never a fun experience !

I could describe this weather as a 'Jekyll and Hyde' weather both having a dramatic contrast to one another yet together can provide an amazing variety and abundance of foods. Better than my short growing season I have in Canada.

Yeah all over in this country, we all are crying for the same thing all through the years in this country.
Excessive heat waves at dry season and excessive flooding at rainy season, still no release of electric power to enjoy life.
Nothing mega...we will keep surviving!.

I agree that mostly here also water blockage on the roads which is discomfort me as well, but after that still i love wet season because it makes weather pretty cool
