Hello everyone, how are you? I hope you are all right. Not long ago, I visited a large theater. This place is in the Taman Ismail Marzuki Complex. Large theaters are an inseparable part of art performances and exhibitions. This place was built by Ali Sadikin and inaugurated in 1968. The area of this place reaches 9 hectares.

This complex occupies the Jakarta Zoo. However, it was not sufficient to use it as a zoo, so the zoo area was transferred to Ragunan. And this area becomes a performance building. The name Ismail Marzuki is a name taken from a national hero. This large theater has a large audience capacity and consists of 3 floors.

This place accommodates 1,200 people. If you look at the building design, this place has a vernacular concept taken from the Toraja and Joglo buildings. This design is a characteristic of Indonesian buildings. The shape of the facade is a mixture of squares and triangles. Then there are two winding stairs leading to the main door to the second floor.

Seen from the naked eye, there are also doors, glass, stairs, and large columns. For some people, the mixture of Toraja and Joglo buildings is a building that is more than art. There is also copper metal on the roof covering which is said to last up to 100 years. Then the walls are dominated by transparent glass. Transparent glass makes this building look modern.

This building always hosts large-scale art performances. This is in line with the artistic and magnificent architectural style of this place. This place has always been a performance hall for international arts events. Some people think that the roof of the building is like a post-modern building. Many people think that this building still does not reflect a typical Indonesian building.

The protruding part is visible from the dome shape. it is tied to the historical neoclassical architecture of the Dutch era. Then the color of this building is dominated by white combined with terracotta. So, there are very strong Dutch buildings. Another ornament that has become very famous for its Dutch heritage is horizontal stripes, especially on colonial neoclassical columns.

That's all I can say about this building. How is the condition? Are you interested in my story? See you in my next story. Wait for my other stories. See you.
