Hello everyone, how are you? You've read my story about my visit to the Jacatraweg area. Currently, the name of the road is Jalan Pangeran Jayakarta. Previously, this place was an elite area outside the walls of Batavia. Jacatraweg was also a silent witness to the skin-breaking incident.

Portuguese Church, Zion Church

Starting with the story of Jalan Jayakarta. Jacatraweg is outside the Batavian fort. Jacatraweg is a Chinese farm and village. Batavia began to develop, Mr Cornelis developed the southern area of Batavia to build housing and other things. Prince Jayakarta was the leader in Jakarta and broke ties with Banten.

One of the tourist attractions in Jayakarta. Then the Zion Church appeared and the wine factory appeared. Zion comes from the word hill in Israel. Church for Portuguese (Protestants). North Jakarta is a Portuguese village. Zion Church is the oldest church building in Jakarta. In the Sion Church, there is the tomb of the 20th governor of Batavia.

Skin Breaking Tragedy Incident

Skin breaking is an extreme event carried out by the Dutch. Performed on a Dutch traitor, Peter, of European and Thai descent. Broken skin is the name of a tragedy carried out by the Dutch colonialists on the people who betrayed them. This skin-breaking incident happened to a resident of Asian descent named Pieter Erbeveld. Governor General Zwaardecroon carried out the order to break the skin.

Punishment was carried out outside the fort. This place is where the skin-breaking event takes place. And after the execution, a monument was built. However, currently, the inscription does not exist at this location. The city of Batavia continues to grow and is now Jakarta. Many shops were built and the inscriptions are kept in the Jakarta History Museum.
