First Person Shooter on the WAX Blockchain

A few weeks ago, I got tipped off to a new game on the WAX blockchain. It was called "Gen Zero" and it was billed as:

The Forge is the first tactical FPS competitive video game utilizing the blockchain through non-fungible tokens or NFTs. Aimed to be the first Esport in the Metaverse, The Forge offers a unique and personalized 5v5 experience where all players start out on the same playing field. Players use NFT Generators to create, collect, use, sell and trade in-game NFT cosmetics for their weapons, attachments, and avatars. Spark, the in-game currency is gained by players from simply playing the game and is collected through the battle pass, loot boxes, community giveaways and, exclusive tournaments. Generators and Spark are combined to create the unique and rare NFTs that bring The Forge to life.

Being someone that really used to dig "Medal of Honor" when I was younger, it was something I really wanted to get involved with, especially when I read some of the other information about the project. This statement is the one that got me to actually buy in, at a cost of $150 USD in WAX (I think it was anyway...) Now, they are selling for $400, and I suspect when word gets out how good the game is, it will go higher.

Holders of GEN-ZERO are able to power GEN-E without any additional Modules or Nodes.
The GEN-E Generator lives online and is powered by Modules and Nodes. These mods and nodes are additional NFT Drops that can be combined with SPARK and are used to power GEN-E. We will be releasing mods & nods from different designers, artists & projects we collaborate with. Users will apply whichever modules and settings to GEN-E to randomly generate a skin. Once loaded in they will randomize their roll until they mint their skins and use it right away in The Forge, or trade/sell it on secondary marketplaces.

So I bought a pack and opened it. I was not lucky enough to get an epic or legendary, but rare works for me in this case!

Game Night!

When you join the Discord for Gen Zero, they have a bunch of information to read, but most importantly was that they were running tournaments monthly, and opening the servers for the hodlers of the NFTs on weekends. This weekend was the first you were able to play. Let me tell you, I am not disappointed at all! The gameplay was smooth and other than some glitches with getting kicked off the server, I had a blast running around shooting people, leveling up my weapons, and having fun!

Oops!

Some of you that have read my posts for a while know that this is just the type of thing I am prone to do. There was a tournament this weekend on Battlefly and of course, I was so geeked to play the game, I forgot to check the notifications for the tournament. I feel bad for the person I was supposed to battle in the first bracket, but honestly, as horrible as I was at first, I wouldn't have been much of a match anyway. I will say this, at the next tournament, not only will I check-in, but I plan on doing decent as well! Maybe I can get a screen capture set up so I can drop a 3 Speak video next time as well...and...

Maybe I will see you at the next Gen Zero game night!
