The day of my job interview with my friend. | El día de mi entrevista de trabajo con mi amigo.

Warm greetings to all my dear friends in this wonderful Family&Friends community on this lovely Friday, which marks the start of the weekend.

Desde el 2027, tengo una gran compañera de camino que más haya de ser mi compañera es mi amiga, pues ella y yo hemos compartido momentos realmente es importante e interesantes de esta aventura llamada odontología durante la carrera universitaria, íbamos a comprar insumos odontológicos, caminabamos largos trayectos conversábamos, comíamos mango juntas, nos divertíamos así como también llorábamos juntas pero en la actualidad todo ha cambiado porque ya somos colegas odontólogas las dos, mi amiga Grace me acompañó a una aventura en particular que fue una entrevista de trabajo.

Since 2017, I’ve had a wonderful companion on this journey; more than just a colleague, she’s my friend, as she and I have shared truly important and interesting moments in this adventure called dentistry during our university studies. We used to go shopping for dental supplies, walk long distances chatting, eat mangoes together, have fun and also cry together, but now everything has changed because we are both qualified dentists. My friend Grace accompanied me on one particular adventure: a job interview.

Me habían contactado para un trabajo y me dijeron que estaban pronto avisarme cuando iniciaría, me escribieron y me dijeron que fuera la entrevista habían particularmente varias cosas que no encajaban bien en mi cabeza, ya que una de ellas era que el lugar era muy lejano. No tenía redes sociales la persona con la que estaba conversando, no tenía fotografías es por eso que quise ir acompañada y fue la oportunidad propicia, para decirle a mi amiga Grace que fuera conmigo, a este lugar, ya casi podría evitar cualquier tipo de eventualidad o daño siempre por protección, porque nunca se sabe.

I’d been contacted about a job and told they’d let me know soon when I’d be starting; they messaged me and told me to go for the interview. There were a few things that didn’t quite add up for me, one of which was that the place was very far away. The person I was speaking to didn’t have any social media profiles or photos, so I wanted to go with someone else, and it was the perfect opportunity to ask my friend Grace to come with me to this place; that way I could avoid almost any kind of unexpected problem or harm, purely for protection, because you never know.

Mi amiga, Grace y yo agarramos del centro de la ciudad hasta la Curva de Molina en un bus, porque el lugar quedaba bastante retirado de mi hogar mientras íbamos conversando el bus, en verdad, llegamos bastante rápido al lugar justamente estaba lloviendo pudimos encontrar el lugar con facilidad a lo que llegamos al mismo este estaba situado en un local justamente en la parte de atrás, honestamente al llegar el lugar me sorprendí mucho pues este no tenía unas buenas condiciones salubles adecuadas.

My friend Grace and I took a bus from the city centre to Curva de Molina, as the place was quite a way from my home. Whilst we were chatting on the bus, we actually got there quite quickly. It was raining, but we managed to find the place easily. When we arrived, it was located in a building right at the back. To be honest, when we got there, I was quite surprised as it wasn’t in very good sanitary condition.

Mientras estaba prácticamente espantada, porque ya se acercaba la entrevista y el lugar no me transmitía la completa confianza, amiga Grace estaba muy relajada, pintándose sus labios, el señor que me iba a realizar la entrevista que era un técnico dental, se había retirado y ya venía mientras otro chico estaba haciendo su labores de técnico dental, él lo dijo que lo esperamos que el señor ya venía. honestamente, el lugar siento que era bastante incómodo y con un muy mal ambiente más allá de tener estos pensamientos,debo cuidar mucho mi imagen, como odontóloga, porque lo primordial es ofrecerle al paciente, una adecuada, salud y e higiene oral, la mejor manera y un lugar con condiciones no actas hace que incluso el paciente pueda pensar mal de nosotros como profesionales.

Whilst I was practically terrified because the interview was fast approaching and the place didn’t exactly inspire confidence my friend Grace was very relaxed, applying her lipstick. The man who was going to interview me, a dental technician, had stepped out but was on his way back, whilst another young man was carrying out his duties as a dental technician; he told us to wait for him as the other gentleman was on his way. Honestly, I felt the place was quite uncomfortable and had a very poor atmosphere. Beyond these thoughts, I must take great care with my professional image as a dentist, because the most important thing is to offer the patient proper oral health and hygiene. The best approach is to provide a suitable environment; otherwise, a place with substandard conditions can even lead the patient to think poorly of us as professionals.

Pasaron un alrededor de 25 minutos y el señor nada que venía le dije a mi amiga Grace que se había comido algo o tenía hambre, ya que habían pasado las horas del almuerzo, ella no había almorzado, me dijo que no, le dije bueno, salgamos hacia afuera para comer algo y lo dije en un tono alto para que el otro técnico que estaba ahí dentro escuchara, no obstante esta decisión fue muy firme retirarme de allí y no volver ya que pienso que mi ética profesional no puede ser negociable, entonces lo que hicimos fue que nos retiramos del lugar y agarramos el bus directamente de retorno al centro de la ciudad de Maracaibo mi amiga Grace y yo, ella me dijo: "sabías que harías eso".

About 25 minutes went by and the man still hadn’t arrived, so I asked my friend Grace if she’d eaten anything or was feeling hungry, as it was past lunchtime and she hadn’t had lunch. She said no, so I said, ‘Right, let’s go out and get something to eat,’ and I said it quite loudly so that the other technician who was inside could hear. However, I was absolutely determined to leave and not return, as I believe my professional ethics are non-negotiable. So, my friend Grace and I left the premises and took the bus straight back to the centre of Maracaibo. She said to me, ‘I knew you’d do that.’

Nos fuimos del lugar estábamos prácticamente muertas de la risa, porque las cosas que nos pasan a nosotras no les pasa a más nadie tantas experiencias nuevas que contar y esta es una de ellas para contarle a nuestros futuros hijos, se puedan reír tomamos el bus este dio bastantes vueltas por toda la ciudad de Maracaibo hasta que finalmente pudimos llegar al centro. Le pude brindar a mi amiga gris un cepillado para que se sintiera bien y un poco más llena sin duda alguna son cosas que pasan nada como convivir, tener nuevas experiencias con tus amigos.

We left the place practically in stitches, because the things that happen to us don’t happen to anyone else so many new experiences to share, and this is one of them to tell our future children, so they can have a laugh. We took the bus, which went round and round all over Maracaibo until we finally made it to the city centre. I gave my grey-haired friend a brush through to make her feel good and a bit fuller; without a doubt, these are the things that happen – there’s nothing quite like spending time together and having new experiences with your friends.
