Visiting a Neoclassical heritage site in Venezuela. | Visita a un lugar de interés patrimonial neoclásico en Venezuela.

Gratos saludos tengan todos mis queridos amigos viajeros de todas partes del mundo hoy les mostraré un gran lugar de historia de mi ciudad.

A warm greeting to all my dear travelling friends from all over the world. Today I’m going to show you a place in my city that’s steeped in history.

Viajeros justamente en la medida principal las delicias en Maracaibo muy cerca del casco histórico de la ciudad, podemos encontrar un museo a cielo abierto donde las almas descansan y muchos fotógrafos, turistas e historiadores, visitan para hacer turismo oscuro o funerario, como también para tener las mejores tomas artísticas de todo el arte que hay en su interior, hace más de 170 años, este lugar esconde en su interior, la vida apagada de tantos guerreros, artistas, proceres, piratas, entre otros grandes son las historias que se encuentran en el puesto que también es un patrimonio histórico de nuestra ciudad y país, albergando, así grandes tesoros de arquitectura, cultura, historia y misticismo, justamente inaugurado el 12 de Noviembre 1879, siendo un patrimonio cultural e histórico del estado Zulia.

Travellers seeking the main attractions of Maracaibo, very close to the city’s historic centre, will find an open-air museum where souls rest; many photographers, tourists and historians visit for ‘dark’ or ‘funerary’ tourism, as well as to capture the finest artistic shots of all the art within. For over 170 years, this place has concealed within it the faded lives of so many warriors, artists, heroes and pirates, amongst others. These are the great stories found in this site, which is also a historical heritage site of our city and country, thus housing great treasures of architecture, culture, history and mysticism. It was inaugurated on 12 November 1879 and is a cultural and historical heritage site of the state of Zulia.

Para producirse es el panteón más antiguo de la ciudad, el primer lugar donde se enterraban, a cualquier persona de diversas religiones ya sean católicos, protestantes judíos, entre otros estaba conformado por 3 panteones, el inglés, el de Santa Lucía y el panteón colonial, es un lugar de ensueño para las personas amante de la historia y de la cultura ya que estas 2 se entrelanzan en cada rincón a pesar de ser un tesoro netamente privado conserva una esencia romántica con cierta fascinación, descansando en lo más interno de sus entrañas personajes históricos que contribuyeron de gran manera a la historia de nuestra localidad.

It is the oldest cemetery in the city, the first place where people of various religions including Catholics, Protestants and Jews, amongst others were buried. It consisted of three cemeteries: the English Cemetery, the Santa Lucía Cemetery and the Colonial Cemetery. It is a dream destination for lovers of history and culture, as these two elements are intertwined in every corner. Despite being a strictly private treasure, it retains a romantic essence with a certain allure, with historical figures who contributed greatly to the history of our town resting deep within its heart.

En mi visita, me llamó la el gran interés y siento que es parte del protagonismo principal del lugar, su arquitectura, el diseño arquitectónico en su gran totalidad tiende a ser creado, por Hermes Romero, cierta estructura del lugar en su cuadrado perfecto, ha ido modificando a una especie de trapezoide, teniendo así hacer una obra de arte por completo ahora bien cuando se comenzó a construir el material era traído de afuera más que todo era mármol italiano de alta calidad de estilos neoclásico, art nouveav, gótico, naco, y contemporáneo, lo que más llama la atención es lo gran imponente y elegante de cada uno de las estatuas que se encuentran en el lugar realmente son increíbles, hechas de las más altas calidad en la que su gran mayoría son elaboradas de mármol italiano totalmente importado, han sido vandalizadas con el tiempo pero la gran mayoría aún se conservan.

During my visit, I was struck by the great interest it aroused, and I feel that it is one of the main attractions of the place; its architecture; the architectural design as a whole tends to be the work of Hermes Romero. A certain structure of the site, originally a perfect square, has been modified into a sort of trapezium, thus creating a complete work of art. Now, when construction began, the materials were brought in from outside; mostly high-quality Italian marble in neoclassical, Art Nouveau, Gothic, Naco, and contemporary styles. What catches the eye most is the sheer grandeur and elegance of each of the statues found on the site; they are truly incredible, crafted to the highest standards, the vast majority of which are made from entirely imported Italian marble. They have been vandalised over time, but the vast majority are still preserved.

En cuanto a lo turístico del lugar, se motiva a visitarlo por medio del turismo funerario y oscuro, para sí poder conocer las historias de cada uno de los personajes e históricos y poder nutrir de su importancia en la cultura, así como también del arte grandes insignes, se encuentran en el interior del lugar como el primer rector de la universidad de Zulia, como lo fue Francisco Ochoa, también los hermanos Lossada y el creador del famoso bisturí de diamante, entre otros más de gran importancia.

As for the site’s appeal to tourists, visitors are encouraged to explore it through dark and macabre tourism, so that visitors can learn the stories of each of the historical figures and appreciate their significance in the culture, as well as the great works of art found within the site, such as those of Francisco Ochoa, the first rector of the University of Zulia, the Lossada brothers, and the creator of the famous diamond scalpel, amongst other figures of great importance.

Existen diferentes diferentes tipos de mitos y leyendas, pues en el lugar tienden a escucharse pasos ruidos, sin alguna explicación aparente, así como también el famoso relato de Juanita, que es una alma perdida que se encuentra en el lugar, qué a pesar de que fue entrada en el cementerio, su lápida no se consigue es por lo que se dice que su alma está perdida, ya que en vida Juanita sufrió mucho tiende hacer uno de los mitos más conocidos. Así como también uno sobra natural que es Fray Juanipero de Escalada aparentemente concede favores a los estudiantes que suelen pedir ayuda por sus estudios en las diversas áreas de ciencias fuertes.

There are various types of myths and legends, as loud footsteps are often heard in the area for no apparent reason, as well as the famous tale of Juanita, a lost soul who haunts the place; although she was buried in the cemetery, her gravestone cannot be found, which is why it is said that her soul is lost, and as Juanita suffered greatly in life, this has become one of the best-known myths. There is also a local legend about Fray Juanipero de Escalada, who apparently grants favours to students who ask for help with their studies in the various fields of the hard sciences.
