Loh is therefore alone in Belgium with all the problems of the case including the linguistic barrier, poverty and desperation lead him to resort to the most disparate means to survive, rummaging in the garbage, sleeping in public toilets, looking for associations that can help him. Furthermore, his status is in the balance because it is not easy to prove that he has escaped from North Korea, many fugitives pass through China and risk being mistaken for Chinese abroad, which creates problems for having refugee status. Loh is also often beaten or mistreated precisely because of his foreign origins, underlining how racism is still strong even in open and civil societies. His life begins to change when by chance he meets Marie, a girl who speaks his language but who robs him of his wallet, his only link with the memory of his mother, a mother who even in death sacrificed her body to give him freedom, wishing him just one thing about eating, living well and finding a place to have a dignified life. He and Marie thus begin a relationship, although initially stormy, a friendship slowly arises between them, but Marie is not a simple girl and here too heavy themes are touched upon. Marie takes drugs, plays clandestine bull-fighting and fights against her inner demons. running away from her father who would like a healthier life for her. Soong joong ki who plays Loh gives us a great performance as an actor, a great performance. Marie manages to find a job in Loh even though he has to pretend to be Chinese, the first days of work are hard for him but he makes friends with a woman who is also a deserter, they recognize each other because they both speak calling people "comrade", a habit of the regime. He turns to her with affection, she often helps him with the food he steals and protects him when he wants to meet Marie but the rules of the condominium prohibit guests, he also asks her for help with his trial where he has to prove his origin but he will have a bad surprise.
