In the Shadow of the Great Sphinx.

After following a golden marker on the map, I arrived at the Great Sphinx. I searched around the site and located an entrance beneath the giant monument. Finding a hidden hole in the back, I ventured inside, retrieved three hidden treasures, and safely returned outside.

A golden question mark on the map led me directly to the impressive sight of the Great Sphinx. The massive monument stood towering over the desert sands, featuring a majestic human face set upon a lion's body.

Knowing that ancient structures often held hidden riches, I set out to find a way underneath it.

I began by walking around the surrounding ruins, observing workers busy excavating and building around the base. It appeared as though they were trying to dig tunnels toward the structure, but no clear entrance was visible on the surface.

To get a better vantage point, I called upon Senu to survey the area from high above. Even through her keen eyes, the ground revealed no obvious passageway.

I decided to inspect the statue itself more closely. As I scaled the giant head and held onto its lower lip, I scanned the surrounding surfaces for hidden mechanisms or cracks.

Finding nothing on the front or sides, I worked my way around to the rear of the monument. Luckily, I spotted a opening situated right at the back of the statue.

Without hesitation, I went inside through the back hole. The interior was shrouded in total darkness, forcing me to pull out a torch to illuminate the shadowed corridors. A notification confirmed that I had entered the Sphinx Passageway, an area holding three valuable treasure chests.

I made my way deeper into the narrow hallway, keeping a sharp eye out for anything useful. The path appeared to hit a dead end, but a closer examination revealed another opening dropped lower into a sub-level chamber.

Moving carefully to avoid unexpected traps, I spotted two treasure chests resting inside the upper alcoves. Upon opening them, I claimed a pair of dual swords to add to my arsenal. With two of the three treasures secured, I pressed farther into the passage to locate the final objective.

The narrow tunnel grew increasingly dusty and choked with thick spider webs. Pushing past the obstacles, I stepped out into a remarkably cavernous room hidden deep beneath the monument.

The scale of the underground chamber was staggering, far larger than expected for an undiscovered space beneath the sands.

Dropping down into the lower level, I continued through the dark passages. Stone walls were carved with ancient drawings, giving the damp tunnels an eerie atmosphere.

At last I spotted the third treasure box. Opening it rewarded me with a valuable scepter, additional loot, and 300 XP for completing the location.

With all three treasures secured, I turned around to retrace my steps back to the surface. Navigating the dark, winding corridors proved slightly tricky, and I lost my orientation for a brief moment among the identical stone passageways.

Fortunately, I recognized the structural markings and found the path leading back up toward the entrance.

I climbed back out through the rear opening of the Sphinx and stepped into the bright sunlight, just as a heavy sandstorm began to sweep across the desert landscape.

I'll show more of my photographic journey of the games soon, so stay tuned to my blog if you liked them.

The screenshots are taken by me personally from my gameplay and I borrowed the game's logo from DevianArt.

So you basically spent the whole time thinking the entrance had to be somewhere obvious, then it turned out to be hiding behind the Sphinx? like it had been laughing at everyone, lol.

I think the game designers have done a really good job of research and historical accuracy recreating this Egyptian desert setting and the pyramid in Assassin's Creed. The details are impressive, like the interior of the ceiling in the pyramid's chamber. The screenshots of the Assassin walking in the pyramid's shadows are great; they're my favorites. Cheers.

The timing of your return was perfect. You escaped the Sphinx just as the sandstorm started, which made the ending feel cinematic. Exploring ancient ruins and then walking into a massive sandstorm is a memorable way to finish the adventure.

Climbing all over the Sphinx looking for a secret passage felt exactly like the kind of thing I would have done too. No corner deserved to be ignored hahah.

Using Senu to scout the area from above was a smart move, although it looks like even her eagle vision couldn't reveal the hidden passage.

Senu gave me a great overview, but that hidden passage was definitely keeping its secret.
