El efecto Dunning-Krueger en La candidatura presidencial [ESP-ENG]

Después que el PhD Daniel Kahneman Psicólogo, uno de los creadores de la Economía conductual y ganador del premio Nobel de Economía en el año 2002, por haber integrado aspectos de la investigación psicológica en la ciencia económica, especialmente en lo que respecta al juicio humano y la toma de decisiones bajo incertidumbre. En su propuesta conceptual, este prestigioso investigador hace un interesante aporte al establecer la importancia de los sesgos cognitivo.

En su libro Pensar Rápido, Pensar Despacio publicado junto a al también PhD Amos Tversky 2011 por la Editorial Farrar, Straus and Giroux en Ciudad Nueva York, USA, al referirse a los efectos de los sesgos cognitivos, señala que:

“Los sesgos cognitivos son un ejemplo de hasta qué punto nuestros pensamientos adoptan rutas insospechadas, muchas de las cuales desafían la racionalidad y nos llevan a tener una visión distorsionada de las cosas”

Los sesgos cognitivos actúan como una espacie de estructura mental regida que lleva al sujeto a concluir o expresar ideas según las creencias que tenga instaladas en su mente. Ya sean viejas creencias o recién instaladas.

Los medios de comunicación y las redes sociales se valen a cada momento de estos sesgos para hacernos creer que determinado producto tiene una cura milagrosa para algún problema que estemos presentando. Así, por ejemplo, ante un problema de sobre peso es más fácil que tomar medio bajo de agua con unadeterminadaoelemento, llámese limón, avena, chía etc. te hará perder de peso sin necesidad de entrenar y de modificar tus hábitos alimenticios.

Simultáneamente otros con los investigadores han estableciendo otros sesgos que afectan el comportamiento humano. asi nos encontramos con los doctores Justin Kruger y David Dunning, de la Universidad de Cornell (Nueva York, EE. UU.). Cuyos trabajos sobre comportamiento humano fueron publicados en el Journal of Personality and Social Psychology de diciembre de 1999.

Sus aportes son ahora conocidos como el efecto Dunning-Krueger. Se trata de un sesgo metacognitivo, es decir, de un error a la hora de evaluar nuestra capacidad de razonamiento. Los seres humanos tenemos la tendencia a sobreestimar nuestras capacidades.

El resultado es que las personas con menos conocimientos sobre un tema tienden a considerarse más inteligentes, críticas y racionales de lo que realmente son y, además, etiquetan a quienes tienen una opinión contraria a la suya como ignorantes, ingenuos y emocionales.

Cuando doy clase o dicto alguna conferencia, siempre es habitual recibir preguntas sobre en cuáles aspectos de la vida real, cotidiana, se pueden ver estos conceptos tan sabiamente formulado paro estos científicos de la ciencia conductuales.

El mejor sitio para observar a personas con estos dos sesgos en el mundo de la política Venezolana. Si en esa jungla de personas que luchas vorazmente para alcanzar el poder o para simplemente mantener a otros en el poder. Si evaluamos a muchos de los líderes que autoproclaman como los mesías y salvadores de la patria no tienen la preparación ni las cualidades para ni estar de recoger bates en un equipo de béisbol.

El hecho de ejercer la autoridad en sus organizaciones, o de haber estado en el sitio adecuado en el momento adecuado, como una persona que es suplente y le toca asumir el puesto de principal y lo hace medianamente bien, no significa que ya es Zeus.

Los dirigentes políticos tienen a tendencia a sobre valuar sus conocimientos y tienden a menospreciar a los diversos estudios, metodologías y sobre todo a las personas formadas, lo resaltan a cada rato diciendo frases como: “yo estoy en la calle” “En la calle es la verdadera encuesta” “Yo hable con el perrocalentero de la esquina él dice que voy ganando” “tengo años en marchas” El tener experiencia de calle, experiencias en materia organizativa de un partido no es sinónimo de tener los niveles necesarios para ser el Estadista que requiere nuestro país en los actuales momentos.

Los ciudadanos, los que tenemos la responsabilidad de elegir al futuro candidato presidencial debemos evitar caer estos sesgos cognitivos ni en las pasiones propias de una campaña electoral, la política es algo muy seria para dejarla en manos de los políticos.

The media and social networks make use of these biases at every moment to make us believe that a certain product has a miraculous cure for some problem that we are presenting. Thus, for example, when faced with a problem of overweight, it is easier to believe that taking half a glass of water with a certain element, such as lemon, oatmeal, chia, etc., will make you lose weight without the need to train and modify your eating habits.

When I teach or lecture, it is always common to receive questions about what aspects of real, everyday life can be seen in the concepts so wisely formulated by these behavioral scientists.

The best place to observe people with these two biases is in the world of Venezuelan politics. Yes, in that jungle of people who fight voraciously to achieve power or simply to keep others in power. If we evaluate many of the leaders who proclaim themselves as the messiahs and saviors of the homeland, they do not have the preparation nor the qualities to even be picking up bats in a baseball team.

The fact of exercising authority in their organizations, or of having been in the right place at the right time, as a person who is a substitute and has to assume the main position and does it moderately well, does not mean that he is already Zeus.

Political leaders have a tendency to overvalue their knowledge and tend to underestimate the various studies, methodologies and above all the trained people, they highlight it all the time saying phrases like: "I am in the street" "In the street is the real survey" "I talked to the hot dog on the corner he says I'm winning" "I have years in marches" Having street experience, experience in organizational matters of a party is not synonymous with having the necessary levels to be the statesman that our country requires at the present time.

Citizens, those of us who have the responsibility of choosing the future presidential candidate must avoid falling into these cognitive biases or the passions of an election campaign, politics is too serious to be left in the hands of politicians.
