Another lovely and interesting contest to dive into and explore, huge thanks to the dedicated and consistent Admin/moderators of the Hive Learner's community. Keep up with the good work guys.

I welcome you to my entry on the 60th (03) week of the Hive Learner's featured post, where I would be telling you about a movie I recently watched titled "The Woman King."

The Most Recent Movie I Have Watched This Past Week

Watching movie is one of my hobbies, and I enjoy watching movies during my leisure times. Earlier this week, I took some few time off from school work to watch some movies, although I hadn't any movie in mind. I asked a friend for recommendations, and I was sent the links if some interesting movies.

Out of all the movies I recently watched, I think "the woman king" is one of the most interesting, and I have decided to share it here with you all. Although the movie was released by October of 2022, I hadn't watched it even though I have heard so much about it.

The Woman King is a historical drama set in the kingdom of Dahomey in West Africa, which was one of the few pre-colonial African societies that allowed women to fight in its military. The Woman King' is the theme of female empowerment. The movie follows the story of the African warrior queen Nanisca, who leads an all-female army against French colonialists and slave traders in the 18th century.

The story is also a celebration of African culture and tradition as we see the unique clothing, rituals, and beliefs of the Dahomey people.

The film is based on true events, but with fictional elements added to bring the story to life. After watching this movie, I was left inspired and empowered.

Through the character of Nanisca, the movie explores the idea that women are just as capable of leading armies and making significant contributions to their societies as men are.

By setting the story in the context of colonial Africa, the movie sheds light on the brutal realities of the slave trade and the devastating impact that European colonization had on the continent and its people.

I really enjoyed watching this movie, as the cast of 'The Woman King' movie were absolutely phenomenal. The movie featured talented actors from across many African countries, two of were very famous actresses (Viola Davis and Lupita Nyong'o.)

Davis is an Academy Award-winning actress, known for her powerhouse performances in movies such as 'Fences', 'The Help', and 'Doubt'. Nyong'o is also an Academy Award winner, famous for her role in '12 Years a Slave', and for playing the character of Nakia in the Marvel Cinematic Universe film, 'Black Panther'.

Aside from Davis and Nyong'o, the movie also features actors such as Thuso Mbedu, known for her role in the television series 'Is'thunzi', and Kelvin Harrison Jr, who has appeared in films like 'Luce', 'Waves', and 'Mudbound'.

With such an impressive cast, you would agree with me that this movie was a bomb. A movie directed by a woman called Gina Prince-Bythewood, who has previously directed movies like 'Love & Basketball' and 'Beyond the Lights'.

This is a movie I would personally recommend to family and friends seeking to watch an exciting African movie for the weekend.

Thanks for your time here.
