Throughout the post, we will see reenactments with wax sculptures, the part that impressed me the most was the part of the Nusret Minelayer that was opened to the visitors. Canakkale Naval Museum opened its doors to visitors on March 18, 2011. It is an ideal museum to understand the historical and strategic importance of the Dardanelles and the Gallipoli Peninsula. The museum offers visitors an in-depth look at the Battle of Gallipoli by displaying important pieces of maritime history.

The museum is open-air and you can even see a model of a submarine from the war times. You can see a photo of it below, usually the theme of things here is about cannons and rifles used in wartime.

One of the most interesting places in the museum is the Nusret Minelayer. This ship changed the course of the war with the mines it laid in the sea by showing great heroism during the Gallipoli War. The replica of the Nusret Minelayer is proudly exhibited in the museum. The Nusret minelayer, built in Germany, was one of the first minelaying ships to enter service in the Ottoman Navy with the initiative of Cevat Pasha of Malatya Arapgirli. The ship, whose real name was Nusrat but was used as "Nusret" at the time, was included in the Ottoman Navy in 1913 after shipyard maintenance in 1911.

In the spring of 1915, it was clear that the Allied ships were going to launch a major attack from the shelling of the Turkish bastions at the entrance of the Dardanelles Strait by warships, reconnaissance flights and the activities of mine sweeping ships. Allied ships were now counting the days for the attack and pounded the shore with their ship cannons. Being aware of this situation, the Fortified Position Command decided to lay 26 mines in the Dark Harbor.

The minelayer Nusret, under the command of Captain Hakkı Bey and Mine Group Commander Captain Hafız Nazmi Bey, laid the last 26 mines in the Dark Harbor on the Anatolian side, ignoring the searchlights of the allied ships. The chief engineer of the ship was Captain Engineer Ali Yasar Efendi.

Effects of the operation
The mines laid by Nusret changed the fate of the Canakkale Wars on March 18, 1915 and earned her the title of the most famous minelaying ship in the world. There is also a big telescope outside before you come to the ship and when you look through this telescope you can see the inscription Canakkale Impassable monument on the mountain on the Gallipoli peninsula. It was a nice feeling to observe kilometers away through the telescope and it was also a nice experience to see the ships passing through the strait.
