GARAGE SALE | I organized an amazing Garage Sale

Hello friends, I wanted to share with you today an event that we have been organizing for the last 1 week. You know, garage sales are popular in many countries and people in Norway are interested in garage sales. I can say that it is a great activity to sell the items we don't use at an affordable price. Since the garage of our neighbor was a bit messy, my husband and neighbor wanted to tidy it up together and then we wanted to put our things to sale there and organize a garage sale event and have fun. It was a very enjoyable day for us, let's continue the details below with photos!

When you enter our garage, Santa welcomes you first. This place was very messy before, we really made it very beautiful by working for a long time and it really looks like a shop anymore. We announced on Facebook about this garage sale for the people who's living in our region.

We designed such a banner to announce our event on Facebook and we hang these banners on billboards at certain points in our region and tried to spread it as much as possible.

Since there are handmade bags, bracelets, etc. that are never used except for the products used in the garage, I designed a signboard that we can put in front of our location for our event. It was a lot of work to make this signboard, but I think it was worth it.

I secured the signboard which made out of cardboard to the wires with finely clip clamps to protect it from the wind and it started to attract people's attention even when they were walking by, people who didn't know about the event came up to us and ask us what we are selling here. By the way, let me show you what we sell inside.

This is how we made the stand with used clothes. It was like a store showcase and we used the means at our disposal to do all of this, the materials in the garage were enough for us.

In addition to the clothes, we also have the necessary equipment for motorcycles, and even the skis, as you can see on the left side.

I realized that I had a lot of earrings and rings that I didn't use, so I created such stand for them.

I sold my handmade bracelets here. When I first came to Norway, I started making bracelets as a hobby, I bought all the materials in Turkey and brought them here, and I made macrame knitted, bead bracelets. Since I had a lot of them, I wanted to sell them and I put these handicrafts on sale at a cheap price, even with a 3 buy 2 pay campaign.

Yoga mats, dumbbells, backpacks for mountaineering, benches used for gym, drain bands, special clothes for skiing, etc. It was possible to find almost everything in the garage, we didn't know we had so much stuff when we were tidying it up, it was a surprise for us too.

Here, we displayed shoes in good condition that I don't use anymore and handmade knitted bags made by my mother. We also put necklaces and bracelets on sale where it says 60% sale. I bought them in Turkey and realized that I haven't used them for a long time, so I put them on sale here at a very cheap price.

These are evil eye beads, there is a belief that evil eye beads protect you from the evil eye. It may not be known by everyone, so I wrote the explanation on a piece of paper in Norwegian and hung it on the wall to inform the customers who come and are interested in these beads. This stand I made for the beads was a lot of work for me, I found this white basket in the garage and I created such a platform by passing the tree branches I found outside through it and they are great.

As you can understand, many of the products sold here are handmade, and I gave a lot of effort while organizing the sales sections in the garage, but the result really satisfied me. Normally, I was thinking of opening this place for 1 day, but after so much effort, I thought it would be better to keep it open for 1 week.

This is the back part of the garage where you can find a lot of things like repair tools, gardening products, it was a bit of a mess and we preferred to leave it like this, we don't know exactly what's here so we didn't put price tags on most of it, we wanted the customers to have a look for themselves. Someone even came and took the small boxes where the hooks used for fishing and we hadn't seen those boxes before when we were cleaning here, this was exactly the concept we wanted for this part of the garage.

We look bad in the photo because we are tired, but you are no strangers, that's okay😝

We had a lot of fun in the garage this week, we were very tired, we met new people, we had a good time and we are happy. Our sales are still going on, if any of our readers are in Norway, they can come to visit :) Finally, I want to finish this post by telling you one more thing; I think because it is a small area, the event spread fast and even when the garage was closed, people started to call us and ask us to open the garage, we experienced this 2 times today and those who came usually found something to buy. I wanted to share this fun activity with you and I hope you enjoyed reading about it. Have you ever been to or organized a garage sale in your country before? You can share it with me in the comments, I will definitely reply as soon as possible! See you in the next post Bye!

This looks like an amazing garage sale. We don’t get garage or yard sales over here in the UK, I think the British culture is either stick it on Facebook / eBay or donate to a charity shop.

It is very common in Norway because of the importance of recycling. As you said, Facebook is also very widely used here and it is possible to make sales through it. I'm glad you like our garage, thanks for your kind comment.❣️

One person's trash is another person's treasure

Great way to #upcycle and #recycle items you no longer need or use while making some spending money as a bonus. You also reduce trash that would end up in landfills in a world that tends to be wasteful.

When time permits, you should make a separate post about the "evil eye beads." Others on HIVE and myself would be interested in learning more about them! @norwaylife

Did you know there is a Thrift Community on HIVE to resell your items? Below is a screenshot with the name and some information. The lovely @lizelle can help answer any questions you might have.

Have a great rest of the day /night!
