My Boss - LOH Contest #288

For me, that person that truly inspires me is my boss at work. He may not be a global celebrity but the kind of life he lives and the way he carries himself have quietly shaped how I view success and even see a pathway for myself that it is possible, cos i see myself alot in him in terms of personality.
What inspires me the most about him is how daring he is. There is this story about him he told me , when he was teasing me about not getting married, that still amazes me whenever I think about it. He got married to his wife immediately after school, even before the results of his professional examinations were out. To many people, that may not sound like a big deal but for someone like me who overthinks almost everything like me, it sounds unbelievably bold. I honestly cannot imagine taking such a huge life step without first wanting every detail of my future to be secure, especially the financial aspect.
I am the type of person who likes to calculate every possible outcome before making decisions. I worry, I analyze, and sometimes I delay action because I want everything to align perfectly first, but my boss is the polar opposite. He simply goes with the flow of life with a level of confidence that I deeply admire. Yet despite that seemingly relaxed approach, he has still reached the pinnacle of his career.
Another thing that makes him stand out is his personality. In all my time working with him, I have never seen him lose his temper or shout at a staff member, not even once, regardless of the situation. In many workplaces, especially in highly competitive professions, people often believe that the best leaders are the ones who are feared. Some bosses thrive on intimidation because they think authority must come with harshness but my boss has chosen a different path. Instead of being feared, he has chosen to be loved and honestly, the loyalty he receives from people around him proves that kindness is never weakness. There are people who would follow him to the ends of the earth simply because of how well he treats them. He listens, he encourages, and he genuinely wants to see others grow. In a world and profession that often rewards ruthlessness and stepping on weaker people to climb higher, my boss extends a helping hand instead. He is the perfect embodiment of the saying, “we rise by lifting others.”
That mindset has influenced me deeply and i try to inculcate that personality into my life, because I see parts of myself in him. I am also naturally calm and gentle, and for a long time, I used to wonder whether people with soft personalities could truly excel in highly demanding environments. Society often celebrates loudness and dominance as signs of strength, while calm people are sometimes underestimated.
His life reminds me that leadership is not about intimidation but impact. It is not about how many people fear you but how many people genuinely appreciate you. The lessons I am learning from him are lessons I hope to carry into every stage of my own life, to be courageous enough to take chances, to trust the process more, to treat people with kindness no matter my position. Be humble! If success ever finds me in the future, I hope I can wear it with the same grace and gentleness that he does.
