My Go-To food - LOH #297

If there is one food I can confidently say I will remain loyal to for life, it has to be shawarma. No hesitation, i could eat 3 wraps in a sitting. Ow its so good snd yeah i know that shawarma is not even the most luxurious meal in the world. It is not something people would typically mention when discussing gourmet dining or expensive cuisine. Yet, for me, it is one of those foods that never disappoints. Whether I am having a great day or not, shawarma always feels like a reliable companion.

I honestly remember the first time I had shawarma, my step sister(now late) brought it for me and it was too big for me, i only ate half and she finished the rest. I cant remember exactly what it tasted like but i remember it tasting really good and it quickly became one of my favorite foods. There is just something about the combination of flavors that works perfectly. I like it especially juice, with the juices dripping, i mean the chicken or beef, the creamy sauce, and sometimes that little bit of spice all come together in a way that feels almost impossible to resist. What makes shawarma even more special is how accessible it is. One of the simple pleasures of life.

I am also convinced that shawarma has a unique ability to fit almost any mood. Celebrating something? Shawarma works. Watching football? Shawarma works. Hanging out with friends? Shawarma works. Sitting alone watching movies at midnight? Shawarma definitely works. It is an all rounder, its not something you offer someone and the person turns it down, well i have never seen someone turn it down, but funny enough when i travelled to the UAE, i had a shawarma and i didnt like it, it was dry and just not banging funny enough shawarma originated from the middle east but it would seem we make better Shawarma here and yeah again If I am being completely honest, there are probably healthier foods I should be more loyal to. My future self might appreciate a different answer. Lol!

Shawarma has been there during good days, bad days and days of random cravings. It has never asked for much, except perhaps a cold drink on the side. For that reason alone, it has earned my loyalty.

A few months ago my Son and I got a recipe off the Internet for a Chicken Shawarma but I don't think it was authentic as we did do a few substitutions, especially using a lighter dietary fat cream. My family love to experiment in different ethnic foods so I bet we'll try again.

It reminds me of a fajita, so what is it made of and what are the spices? It looks tasty! Thanks for sharing! !LADY

The average way it is made is with tortilla wraps, chicken or beef, with sausage and shredded cabbages(but not too much) and then ketchup, mixed with mayonaise or however you want your cream.

Sounds tasty and similar to a fajita that I'm used to. Thank you for answering! Have a lovely day! !LADY
