Share your battle: Countering the Daarg Deadblast meta.

Hi there! and welcome back to my weekly Splinterlands blog, the Social Media Challenges have been revamped, and they give us a theme about something we have to make a blog about, I heard @stever82 say in one of his video's this takes a way part of our creativity but he thinks it's a good change anyway, and I totally agree, after a lot of weeks making Social Media Challenge posts before, which I primarily made about explainer posts for new players, with a different topic every week so I could refer to this for new players joining our guild I was running out of inspiration, so I ended up doing two Battle Mage Secret posts the last weeks, and that worked out fine the first few times, but then my second post no longer got upvoted, no guarantee for upvotes of course but it is quite a bummer when you did your best to make a post look good and spent an hour and a half writing it and designing the thumbnail and then not get upvoted, so for me this was a great move! 😃

To find out how you can participate in the challenge yourself, you can find the Splinterlands post here.

This week, we still get a lot of creativity because we need to make a post about sharing a battle, it's basically a Battle Mage Secrets challenge with a carte blanche on what to write it about 😍

If you're a Splinterlands player and you're not blogging yourself, I recommend you start today! It's not that hard, I was hesitant to start myself too, two years ago, fearing my English wasn't good enough since it not my native language, and then my British friend @alberich and a video about blogging from splinterlandsguide on YouTube convinced me to just try it out, so yeah, two years later, here we are with 1000+ posts on my account and a monthly blogging income of about $40-60 to invest in my Splinterlands accounts!

Enough small talk, let's get on to the main topic, the weapons training change has really turned the game upside down, and a totally new meta is around now, with one of the stars to destroy you: Daarg Deadblast!

Great when you own him, but I'm not willing to pay $20+ per BCX for him at this point, when the hype subsides and more supply gets around, I bet it's price will go down so for now, he's just annoying to me 😅
Some players really spam him, and spamming any team is never a good idea because you'll get countered hard, so my opponent found out the hard way! 😁
It's better to rotate a few good set-ups and just have a more fluid gameplay where you adjust your team to the available mana, the rulesets and what your opponent likes to play.

So my opponent was spamming the same team with slight variations to it, doing this, he allowed me to build a perfect counter to his team, with a lot of magic my choice was easy, I needed Immortalis, it was a difficult choice though whether I would go for Goblin Psychic to stop the healing with it's affliction or go for extra damage to just nuke the first card and kill it before it gets the chance to get healed.

First look at the battlefield:

As expected, Daarg again training Baakjira as well as Meerdali Guardian, this player has some nice cards for sure! Gold Foil Baakjira AND Daarg, and a leveled up Soothsayer so it picks up heal and lookout, with Runemancer Kye in the back doing massive damage, I'd like to have those cards, damn! 😍

My Line-Up:

  • Summoner: Immortalis - reason: Void to protect against the magic spams.
  • First position: Grund - reason: Doublestriker to quickly kill off Baakjira before it gets healed back up.
  • Second position: Pallus - reason: The best reach monster is most cases, good damage and speed.
  • Third position: Mycelic Slipspawn - reason: Taunt to take of some heath from Grund.
  • Fourth position: Scavo Hireling - reason: Cheap unit to receive weapons training and gives repair too.
  • Fifth position: Ava the Daunted - reason: My own weapons training star!
  • Sixth position: Thane Newsong - reason: Boosting Melee damage and receiving weapons training.

The Battle:

Round 1: We both have a taunt monster with a lot of HP we need to get trough first, not much happened besides hitting the taunts, I have a speed disadvantage so I'm missing some attacks and Baakjira is back to full health, hopefully my archers get him when the taunt is gone.

image.png

Round 2: Both taunts are killed now so the real action can begin, the Void on all my monsters is really nerfing the other teams killing capabilities, so my plans works nicely, Baakjira got killed also so now it's just quickly killing the rest of the team before they can do any damage their selves.

image.png

Round 3: Even with the massive heals as well as taunt / triage I'm doing enough damage and the other team is quickly getting smaller, my front line is getting thin too so they better hurry up.

image.png

Round 4: Unless we get some crazy misses now, I'm good, Soothsayer is doing 0 damage against my Void, so Kye is the only monster doing two damage now, my tank can survive three more hits so that should be fine.

image.png

Round 5: Four against one now, and 2 damage against 13 damage per turn.

image.png

Round 6: The higher speed and flying gets me to miss a few attacks of course so my team HAS to land 2 attacks this turn...

Round 7: And they did!

Most Daarg teams will be not this high level, I have to admit, it's a very, very nice team my opponent has!

You can watch the battle unfold for yourself here.

That's it for this post, I''ll take a cup of coffee and then see what I can make for this weeks Battle Mage Secrets post too, there's so much going on in the Splinterverse, I always need more funds to build my deck as well as other assets.
