Hello friends of architecture and design, happy activities to all of you wherever you are. I would like to greet you and share an interesting design with you here. History and culture are always inseparable, both seem to be the most important things in life.

Culture and history are often ideas to use as a way to remember things that have happened in our lives. One of them is the field as well as a Blang Padang recreation park, almost all monument buildings are designed to commemorate the services of other countries, designed in the style of the native culture of the area itself to be characteristic in every touch of the building.

Blang Padang is an open field as well as a recreational park for the pride of the Acehnese people, which is located in the center of Banda Aceh, making this place one of the icons of today's tourist destinations for all local communities. This park is often called the field because it used to be a beautiful field in the middle of the city, but then the government reorganized it after the tsunami hit the city of Banda Aceh. Blang Padang was rebuilt after the tsunami hit Aceh in 2004, several years after the tsunami, the Blang Padang field was created with the aim of commemorating the tsunami incident by several countries that had become donors to help the Aceh tsunami at that time.

Around the field area as well as the park, you will find a footpath made of cement and sand that is neatly arranged and clean, measuring 2 meters long and 0.50 meters wide. This path is specially designed for pedestrians who are just walking leisurely around the park so they can easily access all parts of this vast field.

Don't be surprised either, this field is very cool, very neatly arranged, because on every stretch of the edge of the field there are many trees that line up parallel, you can imagine how peaceful it is to relax under the trees. A simple but very beautiful garden design to enjoy the neat grass adds a fresh impression to the entire area.

This eight-hectare field and park contains several historical monuments, one of which is the tsunami wave monument and also a building or known as a monument that stands firmly on the ground which has been given a cream-colored ceramic floor and consists of 5 floors and the floor is shaped like a star. While the part of the monument that stands upright is black and also given ceramics and at the top there is a silver colored element resembling a wave, the height is ±5 meters.

In addition to this high monument, you can also find a small monument on the stretch of the path surrounding the entire field area, shaped like the tip of a boat.

Well, on the monument there is a thank you for the countries that have helped Aceh after the tsunami storm, this thank you is written in several languages such as Indonesian, English, Japanese and other languages.

In addition to the monument that I mentioned above, in the Blang Padang field there is also a historic monument, namely the airplane monument which is the first type of aircraft in Indonesia. This airplane monument has existed since before the tsunami storm hit Aceh and when it was inaugurated in 1948, but when the storm came this monument survived the storm. Then after the tsunami, the Blang Padang park was built, and the monument was reorganized by the government.

Monument Inauguration

According to the story on the rocks described, this plane was purchased from donations from the people of the Aceh province, for the Indonesian state, so this monument was made to commemorate this great history, known as the Seulawah Dakota RI-001 Airplane monument.

The plane is located on a foundation made of iron, cement and coated with ceramics and the height of the foundation is ±3 meters. I took some of the sides of the monument that were designed very much like the original plane.

Walking in the field area of Blang Padang, you will also find several sports venues such as, football field, volleyball court, basketball court and jogging track. The sports facilities are very complete, so when the weekend comes, this place is always full of visitors who are filled with people to visit and just spend the weekend exercising with friends and family.

In addition to sports venues, you will also find a children's play area which is equipped with several children's playgrounds that can be ridden for free, but there are also some paid rides, so the rental price for these rides is still very cheap and affordable for the community.

Well, in the field of Blang Padang there are also several other facilities specially designed here, such as a stage made of concrete without walls. The facility is made for special events, such as the independence ceremony which is directly adjacent to the football field, here it is equipped with a towering flagpole made of concrete and iron, painted in white and golden. In addition, you will also find a simple place of worship standing firmly there, equipped with bathrooms and other places to support this field facility.

In this field area as well as a garden, there are also various kinds of culinary that are sold by street vendors, which are made like small stalls lined up neatly on the outskirts of the field area. This place is also specially designed by the government as comfortable as possible for visitors with simple seats but looks comfortable and very neat.

What a beautiful place to share with the family and be in contact with Mother Earth, @nurfay. I think the space is so wide and well-kept, the huge trees and the different monuments and distractions for the little ones are great. I hope they always keep this park in optimal conditions. Greetings.

This is the most crowded park in my city, every day it is always crowded with local people and outside the area. The government always maintains order in this park and the people love this park very much, there is no visible trash scattered, I feel they are aware of that. Apart from being historic it is also a park full of memories for them.

Thanks for dropping by @sirenahippie

I think it's great that people and the government take care of a space that provides recreation and solace for everyone. In addition, it is important to value and preserve historical sites, because that strengthens the sense of belonging and the roots of a people. I hope it will always be kept this beautiful and clean.

Blang Padang is right in the center of Banda Aceh, very close to the tsunami museum. At first many thought that, but the history of the monument is very long And the Dakota Airplane Monument has been around since before the tsunami

Urban parks add tremendous value to a city and the Blang Padang recreation park looks like a wonderful environment that has achieved it. Nature will always be one if not the most important factor for a park's sustainable growth and development. 👍
